I need support now, ladies... I am so tired of certain family members trying to make MY wedding about them. This is MY day... I don't ask a lot and I AM (well, we are) paying for this wedding. Yet somehow, these same family members keep assuming that I will just do what they want, invite who they want, even when I have made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that I will not budge on certain things since this is MY day. I am so upset that I could cry... why can't this day just be about me? FH is at the dentist so I feel so alone right now. I just got hung up on by this family member!

Hollie, I completely feel your pain!! I am dealing with the same thing with one unmentioned person who thinks it is her call on things & I can't take it anymore!!! FH & I are paying for this solely, so gues what, we make all the calls!!!

Hollie, I am sorry you have to go through this kind of cr^p so close to your wedding! I hope everything works out, I am sure your father will come around once he has time to cool off. How upsetting, though. Just hang in there. Lots and lots of for you.

Hollie, I hope you are feeling better today! If you are FIRM in what you want, and your father doesn't want to come. So be it. I would feel awful too, though and my heart goes out to you!
It's amazing to me that people try to make someone's wedding about THEM!!!!

I've edited my post. I have an idea that might help. There are a lot of expert books that you can find at B&N and literature on the Internet regarding weddings and every issue out there. I'm sure others have faced major conflicts like yours. It's good if you get these conflicts out of the way early on and in a few weeks it should be water under the bridge. Anyway, check out books by Ms. Manners, Wedding Etiquette, Emily Post articles, etc. Maybe you'll be able to show these to your father and therefore put the blame on the experts so that you don't look like the bad guy. I'll see if I can find some articles to help you out. Hang in there.

Sorry Hollie! You know what, just try to let it pass right over you. Inevitably, some people are going to make this day about them, but you know very well that it's about you and John wanted to share your day with family and friends. Let things cool off and try to talk to him later in the week maybe.
