I am so angry right now

I don't usually post things like this but here goes- FI's cousin just announced that they are having their son's bar mitzvah the same day as our wedding. Our wedding is in the afternoon and the bar mitzvah is that evening- I am concerned that his whole family (3/4 of the wedding) are going to get up and leave 1/2 way through to go to the bar mitzvah. Am I crazy or is it normal to get mad.

Why would they do an inconsiderate thing like that. Is your Fi not close with them? I feel bad.

I'm so sorry!!!!! I would be angry, too!!! People are so inconsiderate How much time is their between the wedding and the bar mitzvah? How much travel is involved?

I bet a bunch of people stay for the wedding and skip the bar mitzvah!!! Who wants to go to 2 events the same day? How stupid can some people be??

FI has a huge family-so he is not that close with the cousin- but they are first cousins and they knew when the wedding was months ago when we booked it. I think it is very obnoxious.

Are they aware of your wedding? If so, have they given any reason as to why they feel it's necessary to have it on the same day?

It's poor judgment on their part!

Screw it, dont let it upset you. Dont worry about people leaving, or not coming. You might be surprised. Id rather go to a wedding than a Bar Mitzvah. Who the hell wants to see all those kids LOl

i'm with wacky - nothing more annoying than 50+ 12yr olds running around!!! would much rather be at a wedding!!

Wow - you have every right to be mad. If your wedding has already been booked, and they were well aware of the date and time, I'd definitely say something to them

i just realized one more thing - and i apologize since i'm not jewish so maybe i am unaware of the proper etiquette - but who announces a bar mitzvah 9 months ahead of time????

I don't want to get you even more POed...but that would REALLY burn me too! I think you have every right to be angry...I'm sure the side of the family that you are really close with will be there for you and that's the most important thing!!!! How many more of these stories we are going to hear about inconsiderate people. This is wrong and you need to speak up. I hope it all works out. You have all right to feel upset. Try not to stress too much tho' b/c they knew when your wedding was. If they refuse to change the date you will just have to continue planning and have the best darn time and not let it bother you.
