I would have his parents talk to his cousin about this. You will have a problem with people leaving or not coming to your wedding at all. Why is are they doing this?

My little cousin is having his communion the same day as mine....anothe rone of FH:s cousin wants to get married the same night as we are (although we are the daytie) it S.U.C.K.S....but what can you do. SOMe people are just rude and inconsiderate!! Screw em!!

I would be uppset also. Can someone say something to them like this can effect both parties. They might have people coming late and yours leaving after the cake. Tell them but make it sound like it's to their benefit mostly. All the best and if they don't change it then enjoy your day anyway!! A weddding is a lot more fun than a Mitzvah. Get your invites out first and early also.

You know what, that is very rude, but do not let this drive you crazy. You might want to have your FI say something, but chances are people like that won't change the date so it may not be worth the aggrevation. Don't let stupid people ruin your day!

Look at it this way... they are taking a major risk that people will go to your wedding, have fun, and then at the end of the wedding say, 'lets go quickly to this bar mitzvah... get it over with... i'm really tired.' THEY are taking more of the risk? The kids party and gifts will be overshadowed by YOUR wedding. A wedding, speaking as a Jewish girl, is taken more seriously than a 'pasage to manhood', aka expensive 13 year old birthday. JMO.

Can't someone speak to them, they might not knoiw, and they might reschedule, because, hey people might prefer a wedding (I would)

When we were planning, our hall had an opening on the same day as a realtives BatMitzvah, and we immediately took another date

Thanks for listening to me. FIL's are calling the cousin tonight and finding out all of the details like who they plan on inviting etc. If it is only that group of cousins it is not a big deal, 12 less people to pay for, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Oh wow thats ****s. I would definetly say something to them. Maybe they can change it. But if not, its your wedding day. Have a great time don't worry about who leaves. You need to enjoy every minute of it.
This doesn't compare but my wedding is on a sunday evening, and I am also worried about people leaving early...but there is nothing I can do. I am just going to enjoy every minute and not let it bring me down

Believe me I feel your pain - as I posted a friend of mine has booked her wedding for the same day as mine!! But that wasn't family - OUCH!

Did FH call his cousin last night? What happened? It's great that you can look at it positively - only 12 people!

The people who love you and are important to you will be there no matter what! Those are the people you want there anyway!!

Ok, on the side of the cousin, which I really am not...when you schedule a Bar Mitzvah it's up to the temple to determine the date. However, the party can be scheduled for a different day. Is this the same day as the temple service, or are they really being a holes and just doing it because it's easier for them?
