I am so bummed....
First there was a big announcement at my company today that my division is being sold to a rival bank. So I will know tomorrow afternoon if my job is being transferred to another company or if I have 60 days notice to find another job.Also, my company has blocked access to LIW's through the internet so I can't get on at work anymore

I don't know what's worse, your division being sold off or you being denied access!!

Yes I do. I work for corporate trust in Dallas so my job is in trouble.

Bank of New York will be acquiring portions of JPMORGAN corporate trust business, including the trustee services for corporate and municipal debt, structured finance, cdo's and part of loan agency services, that's me.

So we are in a similar situation. I am a Project Manager, so my position is part of Corporate Trust (Bryan Tower location) but I don't have a day to day operational position. I was unofficially told that I probably won't become a BONY employee, so that means I will have to look for another position in the company. But the official announcement isn't until tomorrow.

What happened? I work for BofA and we were all thinking Chase was going to acquire Bank of New York (not the other way around) after last week's media speculation. I just barely survived the Fleet conversion and I wish you both enormous amounts of luck for the changes ahead!

My department was told that everything will be OK, we work under the loan agency services (we are the fiscal and transfer agency for the SBA -Small Business Admin.) We are the only ones that do what we do, so I guess we're OK, but I'll know tomorrow.I'll only problem now is were will we be moving too. We work in the Chase building now.

It actually ended up being an asset swap. BONY receives parts of the trust business for 300+ retail and mid-market locations to Chase. My part of the trust business in Dallas (where I live) is directly affected.
Thanks for the wishes! I have been through mergers before (I was a BOFA employee too!) but it is bad timing with the wedding so close!

Banking Stinks! I'm in Loan Ops as well, and with all of these mergers happening, I feel like I better do something else with my life and Quick!! Didn't JPM move there ops only like 3 years ago? soooooooo many people got laid off from chase when they moved to texas. It's terrible, you can't even rely on these jobs! Another issue with me is the constant threat of moving to Jersey city. we have an office there already and they are fixing up more. OH, and I def. feel your pain , they blocked me from LIW as well

so many bank mergers/acquisitions lately!!I work for Commerce Bank - luckily our CEO is also the person who started the bank - and he isn't looking to sell anytime soon - but you never know.
You will find another position - the banking industry is a great one to be in right now.

I used to work for BONY (years ago). They had unlimited sick at that time (but, if you took too much they flagged you) and they have the deal that you have to take 2 weeks of vacation consecutively. At that time, since I was right out of college, I only got two weeks and they told me when I could take it. I was in the Master Trust/Master Custody accounting area.
