I received a ton of items from Williams Sonoma for my shower. This weekend I went to woodbury commons outlets on my way home from PA. Everything was SO MUCH CHEAPER!! For instance, I received a blender that was $130 and it was on sale for $80!!!! I think I am going to have to return everything and drive back up there to rebuy it. Is that crazy?

How much money are you going to save once you take into account gas and tolls? Unless you want a reason for a shopping trip.

And then what - give the difference back to your guests? I'm confused as to why you would think to do this.

Unless you know that it was several items with big price differences - I think you are setting yourself up for major frustration. It will take a lot of time and you will save minimal money most likely. Will you have help carrying all that stuff back to the store?

alot of times they have what a current store is having trouble selling, or if they over ordered then extra goes there... you should make sure it doesnt say 'refurbished'....

Everything was in perfect quality. I would be able to get a credit for the difference.

So you'd return the overpriced gifts your guests so generously gave you and keep the difference?

Pardon me for sounding judgemental, but do you really need the money? After spending $4000 on invites I would think you'd be financially stable enough to not have to return/ re-buy gifts.

Are these items you registered for and want or things you don't want? I can see returning the things you don't want for cash or credit, but that seems like an awful lot of work to have the gifts and a little extra cash in your pocket.

I think returning the sutff that was thoughtfully purchased for you to pocket some extra cash is in very poor taste. The stuff at the outlet is not 1st quality stuff, and is old or last years stuff that did not sell for a particular reason....
I go to the outlet in Mass, and I do find some nice stuff, but to go return everything for a few extra bucks is worthless in the long run, in my opinion

I am sorry that you feel the need to judgmental. Your comment seems slightly inappropriate to me.
On this board, brides spend very different amounts of money on all types of things. I try not to make judgments about a person's behaviors or decisions based upon how much they spend or DON'T spend on something. Just because one bride may have a different lifestyle than you does not mean that you should speak negatively about her.
I have shared many FM's with other big budget brides during the year and a half that I have spent on LIW. It can be very frustrating to constantly see only one range of prices for vendors when in reality, there is an enormous range!! I feel that it is important to add my comments about how much we are spending when other brides ask so that brides who are having higher priced weddings can benefit from LIW too.
It is unfortunate that you felt the need to misuse my post from another thread to insult me. I am sorry for you and others who in the future might be discouraged to provide helpful information for fear that their words might be distorted. Don't bother to respond to me, I will not reply. I don't want to further abuse this forum for personal attacks.

Re: I am so irritated
I dont think she was trying to pocket the $$ but instead get the most out of the $$ that her guests spent.
I know when I go and buy a shower present I dont go into the store saying I am going to buy a toaster and not care how much it is. I go in saying I am going to spend $50 bucks and she is going to get whatever i can get off the registery for $50.
If she has the chance to go and return and repurchase this stuff and save $50 on one item it might be worth it for her to do this and purchase the missing items off her registry.

I really don't think she was being insulting, but rather, expressing her opinion on how this comes across. When you tell people that you are spending exorbitant amounts (in some people's opinions) on your wedding, it seems a little tacky to be turning in gifts to re-purchase them and to make money off of it. Actually, regardless of how much money you are spending, it seems tacky to me.
Don't post things here if you can't take the good and the bad. If you think that was a personal attack, maybe you need to take a step back. It seems to me like you are trying to profit off of your guests' generosity, and I don't see how it has anything to do with helping other high-end wedding planners with their weddings.

Re: I am so irritated
I personally wouldn't do it. I don't agree with it, but that is me. Also I know that certain places like Gap and Gap outlet you CANNOT return from one to the other. I remember buying a t-shirt or something for GAP outlet and need to exchange it or return it or something and it could ONLY be returned at the outlet. Their merchandise credits and gift certificates were also NOT interchangeable. So that is also another reason I wouldn't bother.

How much could you possibly get back in a store credit? $200? Is it really worth the time & effort?
