I hand canceled 150 invitations on Friday myself, to avoid having those ugly computer printed bar codes on the envelopes and sure enough, they put them thru machines anyway! my parents received their invitations yesterday and they were bent! i so want to complain.

mine too went thru the machines. mine came like it got run over by a truck, but 99% of my guests got theirs in great condition. go figure!!

it's just so aggravating b/c i spent time doing it myself. there is no excuse for that. even though it won't make the lines go away, i still plan on making a complaint to the post office about it. it will make me feel better.

I HATE that! Thank goodness my future FIL works at the post office so he will make sure its right. Sorry that this has made you upset.

My PO told me that hand cancelling was fine, but no matter what they were going to go through a machine. 'Nothing is hand done anymore - this is the new millenium' he said to me.
Oh well.
I still hand cancelled but got the bar codes.

My dad works for the USPS facility in melville he is an electronics technition and fixes the big mail sorting machines. I asked him what happened since so many people seem to have had problems.. He said 9 times out of 10 the clerk means well ... they hand cancel all of the invitations and then put them in bins to get sent to melville (all out of town mail goes there) when they get to melville they get put into machines that actualy read your typing or handwriting and then the machine sprays the barcode. only two people could be at fault.. the person who took your invitations could have put them together with the rest of the mail...more than likely though the guy who took the mail off the truck was lazy and just though your invites with the rest of the mail... I told my dad to yell at them... After hearing this i told dad he is responsible for hand sorting all of my invites..... crazy how hard it is to keep a computer from doing something you don't want it to!

just a note... dad told me a positive story about the post office... last week some one must have been realy stressed and dropped their invites in the mail without postage. Normaly all of them get marked with a return stamp return to sender but the manager on duty acctualy boxed them all up and sent them back to her with his own money so that her envelopes wouldnt get ruined... could you imagine..
