ok so as i've posted before, im only having my sister as Matron of honor - and she is pregnant; due the end of october
in my family, we dont 'do' showers so anyway, one of my closest friends wanted to plan sort or a non-shower shower / get together and told me to keep 2 dates open and i know she is planning some cool stuff
so, i just told my sister and she's all bent out of shape meanwhile, my sister has not been coming with me to a lot of stuff and i understand, she has a 6 year old, a 4 year old and is 7 months pregnant but i didnt think she would be this upset!
now im upset and dont want to tell my friend i was so happy that she was doing this for me

Awww, that sounds tough, that is really sweet your friend is going to do that for you.
Why doesnt your family believe in showers
My family doesnt either, my grandmother said at my sisters shower in may, that it was the first shower seh has ever been to...she is 82 But we still had it anyway.
i guess if people are that against them they will rsvp NO

the people that she is getting together will not say no; its more of a get together; not a shower and now my sister is all upset so of course now im upset

I'm sorry to hear you're upset. Maybe you can talk to your sister and let her know that you understand she's busy with the kids but you can't help but feel that you want her around for some of the stuff sometimes. It's an important time in your life and of course you're going to want someone as important as her around. Ask her if there's any way she could work something out for you, that it would mean alot. I know waiting a bit and then talking helps me....I hope something works out for you.

Let your sister know that you want her to be involved, and understand that she is pregnant and busy,,, That you dont want to burden her with that responsibility of a GTG

hmm maybe tell your family that you would like a shower like event.. and then talk to your friend and tell her the situation and see if they can coordinate it together.

Im sorry you are upset. Maybe you can tell her your friends know your family doesnt do showers but they wanted to do something for you. And its not tht you wanted it. Maybe ask her to be involved if she wants to be.

talk to your friend and let her know the situation. she can coordinate it with your sister...
as for you, tell your sister that it's not a definite plan. it's just an idea of a get-together but you'd love it if 'your girls' can work together on it.

this really is a stinky situation. I would go visit your sister and sit down with her.. tell her that yes you would like something and that if should would like to throw you something you would be thrilled
tell your friend to just make it a 'FRIENDS from work thing' or whatever.. and no family.. so you get 2 parties!!!

aww I'm sorry laura. Maybe you can talk to your sister and tell her it's really not a shower, it's just a GTG. Is she upset because you're having one or because she's not involved in it?

i cannot tell her to make me something now, because then it seems like an after thought and she won't go for that
