The nasty, rude, dirty, obnoxious people really are starting to get to me. Its bad enough I have to come into the city to a place I hate. To deal with the idiots on the LIRR that are running me over to get to work, the geniuses on 7th Avenue that are always weaving in and out of traffic so they can keep walking. I am getting tired of it!! Why does the job market have to be so bad. There are no signs of improvement either. I would definitely take a pay cut and work in LI over dealing with this crap everyday. Thanks for listening to me.

hmmm....let me tell ya a secret...if you move to the back of the 5:22 to Ronkonkoma...you are better off getting a seat!! I take that train almost every night and never really have a problem! Everyone seems to want to get on the first 2 cars....if you walk back a bit you may have better luck!

Ohh the cell phones... I have asked many people to keep thier voices down when talking on the phone. One guy asked my why...I told him that I wasnt interested in his plans for getting laid that night...neither was the rest of the train!!!! That shut him up quickly!!!!

MICHELLEW ROTFLMAO!!! That is what I want to do to all the obnoxious people that chatter on the phone everyday.
I take the Hicksville/Huntington line and sometimes the Ronkokoma line. I catch the 5:41 Ronk. train if I miss the usual 5:35 Huntington train. No wonder the 5:41 is empty sometimes, everyone runs for the 5:22!

I get in the LAST car of the 5:22 and get there at 5:05 and am there when it pulls in so I get a seat, but even the end of the train is getting packed. I think because the conductors are telling people to walk to the rear for seats.
Ronkokoma line needs a major overhaul, I agree

i think all the lines need a major overhaul!!! they also need a 'cell-phone' car, like they have bar cars. there is nothing worse than that one obnoxious person on their phone the ENTIRE ride home!

Am I the only one who finds solice on the LIRR? I took it everyday - rush hour times both ways - for school and I loved it! Granted, I didn't have to travel as far as an hour - express train could have me home in 20 minutes - but the people were nice, trains were clean, conducters were really nice and there were no smells! I'm on the Port Washington Branch and I know it doesn't have that horrid jamaica stop - but once I got into Penn station BOY was I relieved!
Compared to picking up the subway at West 4th st, ANYTHING is better! IF I HAVE TO GET ON THE A TRAIN EVER AGAIN - HEADS WILL ROLL!!!!!! Nasty men groping me! I SWEAR UGH!

Michelle, Your line doesn't have an express???? Thats crazy! I would say we are the same distance from the city give or take, and on our 'west of Hudson' line of Metro North the first stop is 45 minutes away in Suffern, I am 3 stops after that. And they are talking about maybe an express from us directly to Hoboken...that would be sweet.....
Edited to add: I had to take the LIRR a few weeks ago, and I was shocked at the amount of people. And had to laugh that on my train people complain that its crowded and standing room only is when only the middle seat of a three seater is available! They should try the LIRR! I swear I don't know how the conductor gets through.

The 5:22 and 5:41 are sort of expresses, but after that no such luck. I work till 5:30 and take the 5:53, it makes 6 stops before Ronkonkoma. Any train after that is a local and makes pretty much EVERY stop

CW- This is exactly what I've gone through the past 5 years... Needless to say, I recently took the paycut and got a jobby-job on LI! I am soooo happy!!!

My FH used to commute from Ronkonkoma till we moved here (brooklyn), that ****ed! He had no life. He was out of the house at 5:45 and not back till 8:30. So glad we don't have to do that.
On another note though, I LOVE the subway! It's convenient, and I like it so much better than driving. And, I love the city soooo much! I wouldn't love it so much if I had a 2 hour commute everyday though...Also, I stay south of 30th street for the most part. I have little cause to go to the touristy areas like midtown. So, I don't deal with the crowds as much.
