I am suspicious and worried about the Blackouts!

I am suspicious and worried about the Blackouts!

Does anyone think this is suspicious?

1. The cause of the blackout in the northern east coast has yet to be determined. However, within half an hour after the blackout they somehow knew that it wasn't terrorism???
2. There was a blackout in London two weeks after our blackout. A lot of people are not aware of this blackout because the news did not mention it much. England supports US foreign policy. Rush Hour Power Cut Hits London
3. There was a blackout in Italy last week - most people did not hear about this either. Italy also supports US foreign policy. Power Returns To Italy After Outage

So three blackouts within 6 weeks... in the US and the two countries that are most vocal with their support for the US. It gets better:

4. This was barely publicized at all: Al Qaiada Claims Responsibility for Blackout Al Qaida took responsibility for the East Coast Blackout; they said it was a present to the iraqi people; and they called it Operation Quick Lightning.

5. Remember how within a few minutes we heard that the blackout was caused by lightning- even though there wasnt any lightning anywhere? See #4 above- Operation Quick Lightning.

I truly hope these events are not all related. But at the same time I am suspicious and worried that they are not telling us everything.

Edited to make link work.

Edited again to fix link Al Qaida article link in #4.

Conspiracy Theory. heh

Italy did get me thinking a downed TREE caused a COUNTRY wide black out.

Didnt hear about the London blackout.

I dunno. I think Al Quada likes to take credit for stuff we can't explain.

You know what MY conspiracy theory is? The Bias crimes that have lately occurred have been more brutal than usual. If I was going to hurt the US why not do it from the inside. We are KNOWN for being so ****ed proud of our individualism and racial pride. Send a few groups against eachother and make the people think we should bring back our troops to deal with home. Just a thought.

Yea, Al Qaida definitely likes to take responsibility for things we can't explain. I hope this was nother one of those times.

If I were a f*cking a$$hole terrorist I would claim responsibility for anything and everything that cause a problem or death for anyone against my weird wrong beliefs.

I do believe there is something connecting all the power outages. Im just glad FH and I, my mom and bro all have generators with plenty of gas and an alternative way (plane or boat) off this island if something REALLY crazy was going to happen

FH said to me just last night that Italy found out it was caused by something France did. Here initially they said it was something Canada did....common demoninator...French...

I personally still believe it has to do with Al Qaida...

TOO SCARY!!!!!!!!!!

My mother said the same exact thing, but my thinking is that we are only hear about these blackouts because we had one. I think we probably wouldn't have even really heard of the other ones if it wasn't for ours. JMO. But, I don't think you should worry. I mean, unless the terrorists are the boogey man, than a black out doesn't do much good. (Ok, that's not true, but still, makes ME feel better )

NO but during the blackout they could have been working planting bombs or doing whatever...there is no telling....

They also see how we operate during such a crisis---the city literally shut down

deby - I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday! (Although I can't seem to access the article where Al Qaida claims responsibility - the link brings me to the same article on the Italy blackout.) I thought our blackout and then the London blackout could have been coincidence, which became headline news here because, as rachel said, we had just experienced one. But then the Italy blackout which affected 57 million people - some 7 million MORE than was affected here in the Northeast - is a HUGE blackout.

I was concerned when I read this yesterday and now even more so knowing I am not alone in thinking this way...

I read the link you had up in your post relating to Al Qaiada Claims...but the articles doesn't mention them.

I know in the times we are living in we have to think about these things right away, and read into everything. It's a shame that our lives have come to this. I think the terrorists will take responsability for anything they can just to rattle our cages. I honestly think that if they went to the trouble to stage these blackouts they would have taken the opportunity to stage some kind of attack as well. It does not seem like them to just do it for the sake of doing it, but if they did do it I think they would have taken our vulnerability and attacked. Remember we are dealing with animals!! What is unfortunate is that b/c of the blackout and the major media coverage about it, they now know that it is possible to bring that large of an area down, and may try to do it themselves at a later date.

I woudl definitely not pass anything by these terrorists. The government never tells us the degree of information that they are aware of. Of course there are negative and postive aspects to this (protect the general welfare from chaos, confusion, and fear) - however, this in turns allows for the general public to evaluate world events on their own.

My personal opinion - Al Qaiada is planning something - but they dont have the MO of toying with us. They are planning - (they planned the world trade center bombing for years (5-7) - Their first attempt in 1993 I believe didnt have much affect but we just joked it off - no security was tightened - no suspicion was raised. (At least none shown to the general public). Their next episode wont result ina little discomfort - they are testing to see our weaknesses - I sincerly hope our government is taking action to protect the general public. (Whether they are making us aware or not) - A lot of politics is invovled and I hope that that does not blur the true important consideration here - the lives of millions of Americans.

I think they're is a lot of stuff the government isn't telling us because they don't want us to panic. But our Northeast blackout was so wide-spread it seemed to be terrorist to me.

oh TOTALLY agree! Please....this is right up there with:

'WEST NILE' MOSQUITOES

I mean come ON. Since when does the whole world get plunged into darkness within weeks of each other!?!? And people try to make you feel like you are NUTS to be considering it terrorism.....

I heard the Italy one was due to storms and down power lines Yes in france and that the grind in Italy didn't respond quick enough.

I agree that it is suspicious but if the storm thing is true than that cancels out the terrorist theory on that end.

It definitely does seem like a weird coincedence, but I heard that there are legitimate reasons for the blackouts. It's not the first time we've had blackouts either... Think about how much the population has grown since the electric systems were built. They're old systems... they weren't designed to support all of the power that they do now. So it was pretty much bound to happen. I heard some official person say 'It's a third world system trying to support a first world country..'. So yes, it's a little unsettling, but don't worry too much about it! Life is too short!

Luna...you are right....any professional will tell you that we were in fact OVERDUE for the blackouts.

It is very suspicious because we live in a suspicious time, but these things also happen quite often, and we never hear about them. The only reason why we are hearing about it now is because WE had a big one. And, that blackout was stopped by 4 people in the Philadelphia grid office. If it had been terrorism, I highly doubt it could have been stopped. (If it hadn't..the entire country would have blacked out because our grid works like a chain).

BTW, Italy is about the size of Florida, so try and put into perspective the differences. Blacking out all of Italy was the equivilent of our blackout, even less.

Perspective everyone!
