I am the dumbest bride in the world! Day 1 dress shopping with pics!

Okay, I won a gift certificate to Bridal reflections which is awesome and I will use to buy my gown and all of my accessories which is great, but since I am plus size, I wanted to go to another place to try on dresses so I can get my booty into them! I went to Helen's and Bridal Elegance and snuck pics at both! I thought I wanted a dress with straps and a V-neckline and a A line gown. Well, I put one on and I looked HORRIBLE! I tried this one gown on at Bridal Elegance and FELL IN LOVE! Now, heres my problem, why did I have to be a moron and fall in love with a gown that was not at Bridal Reflections and they do not carry the designer? What do I do???? It is only $490 from Bridal Elegance, but I have $3500 for Bridal Reflections. Okay now for pics!

Good style top from Helens

Dress I LOVE from Bridal Elegance (2 sizes too small so it looks huge in the boobs because it didnt zip all of the way up)

Detail on hip

On model...

Style I thought I wanted...eww gross, I know. I look about 10 million pounds heavier then I am....not flattering at all and it was 2 sizes too big!

that gown does look beautiful on you. Why don't you go to bridal reflections and see if you find anything you love just as much. If not, you can order the dress through phyllis, it's a very reasonable price for a wedding dress. I don't know the rules for your gift certificate but maybe there is someone on here who can buy it from you if they're going to get their dress there anyway.

What if you use the money you have for Bridal Reflections to buy your BM dresses there and all of your accessories.

Its not transferrable...I wanted to get my dress, headpiece, veil, shoes, jewelry, etc from there. If there is any money left over i can use it towards my BMs dresses or jewelry too.

I just feel like $3500 is a lot of accessories and I only have 3BMs and 1MOH. And my FH and parents will kill me if I buy a gown when I have the gift certificate! UGH!!! I am such a moron. I am only trying on designers that BR carries!

that is a really beautiful dress!!! as for the gift cert. i would recommend looking at bridal reflections and see if there is anything you like there, but i know if its THE ONE there is no changing it. dont feel bad if you love it, its worth the extra money! you could always see if there are any brides maid dresses at bridal reflections that you like and you can use that as your gift to the girls... or you can do your accessories there.

Well what if you used to GC to buy the BM dresses as your gift to your BMs, then thats a way you are saving money. Do they carry dresses the Mothers could wear. That may be another thing you could buy? Maybe you can do your alterations there.

is the gift certificate transferable? and if not, how do they know who YOU are? do they check id?

i'm only asking b/c i know myself as well as other girls on here would be more than happy to give you the $450 for the gown you love in exchange for the gift certificate.
hell i know i dont need the full amount of the gift certificate either, so i would even give the balance back to you to use for your bridesmaids lol

$450 is extremely reasonable for a wedding gown. i really wouldnt worry about the money if you love the gown.
there are other options for the GC. i'm sure you could use it for your bm's or mob right?

i think you should go to the place where you have a gift certificate and try to find a dress similar to that one. you never know, you may love it even more. plus, it's still early. you just started looking. definitely try more on before you decide on the one.

The gift certificate has my name typed on it and is signed by the owners daughter so I am sure my name will come across as being something necessary to match. I can use it for my BP and planning on it but I would like to get my dress there too!

What if you tried to sell your credit ot Bridal reflections for a few hundred less than what it is to someone who is buying their dress from there and you can use tha cash to buy the one you want at the other store

By the way I love the 1st dress

Sorry someone just posted the same idea

Thanks, I won it at a bridal show in the city that I got free tickets to through work so I really lucked out. It was also on my 25th birthday! So that was a good day! But I am going to just try to go to Bridal Reflections and stick with the designers they carry and try to find something there I love too! I am sure I can, yesterday was only the first day!

Really?? I think it is a less expensive brand but I have no idea. Its called Bonny. I really dont care about the label, I am more concerned with the fit and how much I like it on me and how comfortable it actually is. I called them yesterday to see if they carried that line and the lady had no idea of that designer. But maybe I will call the Carle place store and the manhattan store as well and see if they can do something for me.
