I am torn between reception sites...HELP needed this weekend...
I am torn between a few sites. One I love and it is a bit far away from the church and most of our guests. One is great and a offers much less but good quality, not fancy but elegant. One is very well known, great food, a lot being offered for an amazing price- but I have a bad customer service vibe and I'm not comfortable there. What should I do?? I feel so guilty that I'm not being 'rational' and going with the good price, good food reputation place.

What are the three halls? My answer before I know the halls is go with your gut! I have found that my gut feeling is always always right!

I vote for the 2nd one you described...wedding expenses will add up VERY quickly, so if you find something you like at a reasonable price, I say go with that. But, if you REALLy want the one that's farther away, then you should weigh how much 'your vision' of your wedding hangs on that particular reception venue.

Go with where you are comfortable. If you decide to go with a place that you are uncomfortable with you will constantly worry about the customer service for the next year!
I had left a deposit at a place where it was great except for customer service....Now, I have lost my initial deposit and went with the place I originally felt comfy with....

Do not book a place you are uncomfortable with. As far as the other place goes...don't think about the distance this is you wedding day. If people have to travel an extra 30 miles...SO BE IT!
That said, you sound as if you want the further RH. I say DO IT! (unless you'll go into serious debt of course)
You will regret it if you settle. that goes for all of your vendors. Expensive doesn't mean the best but you have to be comfortable with the people you'll be dealing with.
Good luck!

OH sorry- I am probably changing that to 4/3/2009! But a weekend twin perhaps?!
Thank you so much for your help! This is my first post and I never thought I would get responses so quickly. And I really feel comforted- despite all of the people who have been telling me similar things- it feels right coming from you ladies. Perhaps because you don't know me at all, so you aren't factoring anything else in?! Anyway thank you!!

Its not worth second guessing yourself. That will probably happen if you book a place you aren't 100% percent sure with.
What two places are you stuck between?

From that description it seems like you want the second one.

i'm guessing she didn't post what the halls are because she doesn't want a B2B to 'steal' them from her.
i would NOT book at the hall where you question the customer service.
go with the hall you LOVE, i doubt you will regret it.

Definitely go with one of the halls with which you feel most comfortable. To me, I prefer really good quality foods--if there are a million different selections that I can tell came from a box, then I won't eat them. Quality over quantity, for sure.
And as far as distance, well, I do think you should consider your guests some when selecting a reception hall....BUT if one really just 'speaks' to you and it happens to be further, then go with your gut! (Perhaps block more rooms at a nearby hotel and/or arrange for a shuttle for your guests.) HTHs!

How far is a little bit far? They usually say driving more than 30 minutes from the church is a pain. But if you feel most comfortable there, then that's where you should go. If you don't feel comfortable now, you won't feel comfortable later and constantly wish you could have gone to the place you really wanted to go to. Plus, if you're worried about the price, talk to the sales manager and see if you can talk them down. Sometimes they go down a few dollars a person if you say that you really want to go there, but are working on a budget.

Go with your gut. Definitely do not go with a place where the customer service is questionable now, before they have your money. If they are like that now, can you imagine how they will be after they have a signed contract?

Thanks all! I did not post the names of the sites because I wanted a completely candid opinion- I'm sure there are plenty of brides who had lovely times at all of the three!
But we went to the first, furthest away, and most expensive place this morning and got a lower price!
We are booked for April 3, 2009 at Georgio's!!! I can't believe we are done- and at a place I thought may be out of our reach.
Yay!!
