I am whining about Wine. pls help

Hey lovely ladies, I am jumping on before I run around again for work.

I know you ladies may know. And some have gone through this already

I am planning on doing wine favors. But I am annoyed at the prices I am getting. I want a nice wine in a 375 size or full that isn’t going to kill my FMIL budget (she is being a dear & getting this but I don’t want her to go too overboard). I am not a big red winer, lol, but FH is & there are a couple of wines he likes. I looked into Kendal Jackson Cabernet, b/c they did not seem too expensive but the 375 price was still over 7 dollars where I looked. (maybe the local liquor store here are charging too much, I have no idea)
There was another wine I liked Louis Jadot wine but thanks in part to the Euro kicking our @ss, it went up in price too.

I am even trying to think about LI wineries (I would even drive out there!) but I am not sure which to check & which may do a nice wine in perhaps the smaller size at a good price?

Ugh. Any ideas, where to go on LI (I know there are some places in the city ie trader joes for two buck chuck), and what wines you are doing with ballpark prices (if you do not mind)

I would super appreciate this & want to get this done already.

Oh and advice for those thinking about doing this. buy the bottles soon if they are from Europe, because I think prices will still go up. Plus our wacky weather is sure to affect local grapes too.

TIA

ETA: I cannot spell so I correct..lol

Full size if the price is within budget ($5 which is hard) or 375 size (bought double the size of the 'split')

I plan on getting 100 bottles I think

did you go into the stores and JUST look at the prices or did you ask somebody at the store how much it would cost if you bought a couple of cases? if you buy a large amount most liquor stores will discount the price per bottle. I bought 750ml bottles at 4.50 each, and in the store they were more than this but the guy worked with me on the price since i bought a couple of cases...Every store gave me a lower price but went with this one bc they gave me the best offer.

No I definitely went up to the people there & asked.

One store person wasn't that helpful. He would only do a 10% discount if we buy by the case.
I checked another liquor store gave only a little bit more of a discount because he doesn't even carry the liquor. & the price I got for those are $5.50 & they are not even full size bottles.

What wine are you getting (if you don't mind sharing?)

I'm in suffolk county, & checked with Bottles & Cases too in Huntington & they really do not do bulk sales so they were no help either. ugh

bang...lol

WOW. I would love info. I would probably need to get them around that time actually. I figured I would need to place an order now so I can get them by end of March!

What is so annoying is that FH & FMIL like a nice wine, (I can go for bubbly instead, or just liqour...hahaha). So some of the more affordable (& still nice) splits they do not like. So by the time i find something they like all the prices went up.
