I can't believe they are screwing around with my dress! (Long and Angry and probably incohearent)

I ordereed my dress in December. It is now July. I was told that the dress would be in in June. It's not. I have been calling every week and they keep saying that it won't be in until the end of the week. The end of the week comes, they say next week. Basically I am getting screwed. I called again today and they said next week after they promised that it would be in yesterday. My mother and grandmother are flying in from Florida for my fitting, and I will have no dress to fit! So they called me back and, they gave me some bull**** story about how the dress came in with the wrong skirt and they had to send it back. I flipped out! I have had it! I said that they should have gotten it a month ago and then if something was wrong there would have been time to fix it. She said its made overseas, so it takes time to get it, and I said she is bull****ing me. I worked at Kelinfeld and I know how long it takes to get a dress. Even a Reem Acra could be made in less time that its taking to get mine. She said I don't know what I am talking about, and it doesn't matter because way they had to send it back. I said (sarcastically) where? overseas? and she said no. Don't worry about it, it will be here. And I said, I am worried, its my wedding dress and you people are treating it like a pair of jeans. So she said are you calling me a liar? I said I don't give a **** what or who you are, I want my ****ing dress. (Sorry to be so graphic, but I am a brooklyn girl) I asked for the owner and she said she was at the doctor, I said for to have her call me when she got back and she said 'she won't be back untill tommorow, so call then', and hung up! I called her back and told her that that was the wrong thing to do, because now I am super pissed off. She said 'oh, why don't you just calm down'. I said ' who the **** do you think your talking too? I am a customer, this is my wedding dress!' She said hold on, and never came back to the phone. Do you belive this? So then I called my mother and told her to call AMEX and cancel the charge. My mother said she wants to call them and talk to the dress store, but I feel like I don't even want it anymore. It had to be taken apart already, plus I have put a curse on everyone who works at the god awful store, and I am not sure what I will do when I walk in there. Meanwhile, FH does the website for Kleinfeld, and is calling the owners and he said that if my dress is not there on Tuesday, we will go to Kleinfeld and rush-order me a new one. So, after a solid month of picking out a dress, I may have to order a new one 3 months before my wedding. The people at that store are so lucky that FH has the car today, or I would have been there in 10 minutes and I swear to god they would have had to call the police. And when I see that Doris person, oh my god! she had better hope that my mother is able to keep me from hurting her!

By the way- The store is the Brooklyn Bridal Outlet. That is what I get from buying from a store with that name. It's not even like my dress is cheap- its actually the most expensive one in the store. It wasn't about the money either. I just happened to really like it even after being at every other store in the tri-state area.

P.S. for those of you wondering, I didn't get the job at Kleinfeld until after I ordered my dress. That's the kind of irony that goes on in my life.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this and the nerve at the women in that store to pretend like its not a big deal! You did everything right and they did everything wrong.

What happened to the saying 'the customer is always right'? Apparently this does not exist in the minds of the people at the salon.

You have every right to be upset and I would have gone in a cab and gone right there to really give them a piece of my mind.

This just really irks me that you pay all this good money, order this dress far enough in advance and then they scr*w you at the end. I would call the BBB and try to get a hold of this manager and see if you can knock some sense into her.

Again, I am sorry you are going through this. I would start calling some salons to see if they have any 'off the rack' or 'rush order' dresses available. If your dress is a popular designer, other salons should carry it.

I would also sue the pants off this place.

Call your dress designer DIRECTLY! They can tell you what the real story and if you say that you have issues with the customer service of your shop - can ship it to another salon.

Tara, I saw that store and it scared me. I am sorry they are treating your dress and you this way. That girl was totally rude. How dare her. I hope something good comes out of this for you. All the best sweetie and try not to stress too much. I think you need to call back and speak to the owner. Report them as well to fox 5 problem solver and anywhere else that will listen...this is your important day. Take care and all the best. Let us know what happens

I agree - first call the BBB - I had a HUGE engagement ring fiasco with our jewelers and its AMAZING how much weight the BBB pulls. Go to their website and file a complaint now. They will immediately email you with a record of your complaint. Then print it out and fax it to the store. I would also print this post. You have every right to be furious. They are not delivering your merchandise as promised. The BBB can work out a resolution - whether its a full refund and breaking your contract, or lighting a fire under the store's a##es. I'd also call the manufacturer directly and again forward a copy of your BBB complaint. Tell them you'll add them to the complaint if in fact they delivered the dress late and with the wrong skirt. In the mean time, take a deep breath. Let your mom call - maybe she'll get further. best of Luck!

you poor thing! you must be FREAKING. Just keep in mind - it seems to us in wedding world that the November weddings are right around the corner, but really it's 4 months and a LOT can be done in 4 months!

I understand your anger completely. I think you should call the manufacturer if possible. You may be able to get a straight answer. By no means would I do my fittings at this place if the dress DOES show up. And I think you are 100% justified in expecting a discount for your aggravation.

Am I understanding you clearly that you'll be able to get a dress from Kleinfelds? (that's the only part where you lost me!)

Call the designer. That will do a lot. They will not want a second rate shop treating one of their brides like that. How horrible! Speak to your manager at Kleinfields. They can also help you get thru to the designer and have the dress shipped to them instead. This other shop will treat you like crap and god knows what your alterations will look it.

Tara, I am sorry that this happened to you. All of the other ladies have very good advice, but I just wanted to let you know that I feel for you!! (I am also November 2nd). Maybe I should call up my bridal salona and make sure everything is okay! Good luck and I am sure that you will come to some resolution!

Update-

I have been on the phone fighting with them all afternoon. I won't go into detail too much as you can imagine the conversations I have been having. I must have spoken to every moron in that place. I cannot even tell you how rude and unsympathetic they are. Not to mention that when I told them that I would make sure to post their behavior towards me on all the wedding boards they replied- and I quote 'So what, nobody cares what one person says'. Secondly, I when I told them that I called the manufacturer they said- and again I quote 'you are a liar, the manufacturer would never talk to you'. I went to far as to tell them the name of the person I spoke to, and they said there is no such person, I am making up the name. Alot of other things were said too, but I am so angry I can hardly see straight so I don't want to relive it agian.

When I did call the manufacturer and found out a few key things.

1- The dress is made in New Jersey- last time I checked, the only thing close to seas near Jersey is the Hudson River (I think ).

2- The dress was never sent with the wrong skirt.

3- She cannot tell me when it was ordered.

4- They are shipping the dress today.

I got a UPS tracking number and will be checking to see its location in the next few days. My mother has also been on the phone with them and has told them that AMEX will be reversing the charges if the dress is not in on Tuesday when she arrives from Florida. The owner is not in today and will be calling me tomorrow. I told FH and my mom that I will not be having alterations done there (assuming the dress arrives and is in good condition). They think that I should wait and talk to the owner and that it is not fair to blame her for the actions of her minimum wage employees. I will wait and see what she has to say for herself.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I hope the dress comes in fine. Deffinetly take it some place else to do the alterations...NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY TO YOU. I wouldn't trust anyone espically after what you have been going through with them. They say this board won't matter...Well it does and I am going to tell every bride i know looking for a dress NOT TO GO THERE. I hope thngs work out for you. Keep us posted sweetie.

I ALMOST bought a dress there, I'm soooo glad I didn't!! I'm so sorry to hear about all the trouble and the agony they have caused you!! I really hope everything works out for you, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

well...it seems that things are looking better...I agree that I would not want my alterations done there...but then you risk paying full price...it may be worth the agita...

I agree with everyone that you should definitely file a complaint with the BBB, then send the store a copy AFTER you receive your dress - which it sounds like you definitely will now!! As for the alterations, I'm not so sure I would trust them with it, being that they have no concept nor concern for time. When it comes in, try it on in the salon. If it seems like it needs A TON of work, then maybe I would have it done there if they put a cap on alterations, but only if you feel comfortable doing that. If not, then I would find a good seamstress...I'm sure someone here can recommend a great one. Either way, when this nightmare is over, and I know it will be very soon, I would not only report them to the BBB, but I would print out this post and mail it to them as well. Because I know I would NEVER recommend them to anyone - in fact, I will make sure all future brides that I know will never even step foot in there! Try and keep your chin up - this will all be over soon!! Best of luck...

I would have been on the phone with the BBB hours ago!!!!! I am a Queens girl and I understand your 'mouth' lol.
Definately call the BBB and after you get your dress DEMAND to speak to the owner and demand you are somehow compensated for what you have gone through or tell her you'll take legal action, but get your dress first!

Tara, I really hope your dress comes in with no more problems. I would not have my alterations done there either. It sounds like the women there are big time *****es, and I wouldnt want them touching my dress!! Once it comes in, take it and run!!

The comment that the woman in the store made (who's going to listen to one person complaining) made me laugh. Doesn't she know about the liweddings.com brides to be???? I will be sure to spread the word about this bridal shop to my friends, family, etc. They'll see who's listening!

Do make sure that you let the owner know of what's going on. See what she will do for you to help remedy the situation.

I can't believe they are putting you through this. I hope you have the names of these 'girls' who have been mouthing off to you. I'd request them all to be present with your meeting with the owner.

I would take the dress and run, too. Who knows what these spiteful women will do to it when no one is looking. You don't need this added stress.
