I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
Please note that I am not saying this, but I have copied this directly from a post on theknot.com-'I thought that I would let you Chateau Briand Brides know this information that I found out. On Saturday (7/13), a friend of mine went to the Chateau Briand for a wedding. About 15 miniutes or so into the reception, the table where the bride and groom sit collapsed, the bride tripped and broke her leg. When she got to the emergency room, she found out that she was not the only bride that had gotten hurt there for the same reason. There had been 5 brides in the emergency room in the last few months from the Chateau Briand for the same reason but she was the only bride that had broken anything. That Monday when the father-of-the-bride called the videographer, he said that he did not have their tape. He found out that the Chateau Briand had paid off the videographer so that he could not give this couple their video, so that they could not sue the Chateau Briand. I am not writing this to scare anyone but I do not want this to happen to any of you Knotties.'
I am getting married at CB in 3 months! I am not happy at all about this! Can this be true? I can't believe how awful this is!

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
Tara, I for one do not believe this. I am calling my BM tomorrow. Now really do you believe that my vidoegrapher who is hired by me could sell my tape to my hall, this seems a bit exaggerated. I am not the least bit worried. I find it hard that CB could have a problem with broken tables and chairs and not fix it and continually have people breaking their parts...this is absurd. Why do people make these things up.
This is beyond me. Its as if they would know that they have faulty equipment and they continually use it, that is just setting themself up for a lawsuit. I am having my wedding there in 11 days and I am not even going to let this bother me

a girl I work with got married at CB on 7/13!! I wonder if its her? (although I don't know if it is her, she is a bit clutsy and it wouldn't surprise me that it was her and not the hall... I'll try to find out...

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
LOL Shamma you made me laugh with the breaking the parts comment!! Well I agree with you as well. Scotto Bros. is very reputable and would not want to RUIN their reputation with something like this. PLUS wouldn't this have hit the news?? Especially in Long Island? Doesn't make much sense to me either. If it happened once I would understand but more than once? Sounds shady to me.And IF the videographer did give CB the tape, isn't that illegal? I mean the videographer had a contract with the bride and groom not CB. I just don't understand why this wasn't on FoxNews or something. After 5 incidents within a few months, NOT one person has hit the news with this?? Seems very weird.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
I dont know a thing about CB...but I can't imagine how a reception table (they are usually pretty light weight as to be carried easily) collapsing could break a young womans leg unless someone threw it at her.Maybe she broke her leg tripping on a table (even if it were broken) - thats more her own fault than the halls.

I was at a wedding there last summer and about 30 people got sick from the seafood. Just be on top of things.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
It sounds sketchy to me. That person didn't seem very informed. I read that thread and she said that with 300 witnesses they would need 'real proof, like a video' to sue. 300 witness is real proof! And I agree with Shamma, no videographer could sell the video to the hall like that. I am sure it is nonsense. Probably a clumsy bride who can't admit she just fell.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
Not that I am wishing anything like this to happen to anyone on their special day, but it just boggles the mind as I read this I am thinking what could possibly have happened to cause someone to fall, drank too much, dancing running slipping and falling, why is it automatically the hall's fault. The the line that takes the cake is the videogrpaher that gets shaked down for the videotape
Now come on. I do not believe everything that I read and this is one that I refuse to believe. I will give an update after I have spoken with my BM.Tara I hope your mind is somewhat at ease.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
That story is over the top of the line. I could see if this girl is saying she fell or the table broke or whatever but I don't believe the five other brides part. I mean I think they would fix the problem and not having something like that happening on a consecutive basis.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
you can't believe everything you read - this just reiterates that to me!Even if some of these facts are true, by now they're probably so blow out of proportion.....
I wouldn't worry about it at all!

This is the CB's Side
I spoke with my BM and yes the bride did fall. What happened was she got up and tripped on her dress and fell. They DID NOT by any circumstances pay the videographer off. What they DID do and the user in the knot DID NOT mention is that CB had limousines escorting those inconvenienced attendees to their respective locations, sent sandwiches and bridal attendants to the hospital to assist in any way they can. This is definitely one of those cases where a story may not always be true! And if any of you go to theknot.com now, the same user said she saw the ambulance leave with the bride. Well her original post stated her 'friend' was at the wedding and told her about it. So who can really believe her when she states two different things? There is no need to worry ladies. It was simply an accident.

Re: This is the CB's Side
I just got off the phone with my Bm as well and that is indeed true what CW0904 wrote. She did trip on her dress and broke her leg. Note she had a prior injury. The hall did open up their bar in the restaurant to their guest and provided limos and bridal attendants to go to the hospital with food etc.CW0904 I did catch that too, first she said she was not at the wedding then she responds and said she saw the ambulance leave the hall.
What do people get out of making these things up. There were no tables involved in this whole incident. I hope it has calmed a lot of CB brides. This could have happened to anyone anywhere. Plain and simple it was an accident.
These are her responses on the knot:
Wanda4402, I am not sure what room they had. I was not invited to the wedding. Let me see if I can find out which room they had and I will let you know.
Her 2nd response
What I know of this situation is that the videographer was the 'house' videographer of the CB, so they probably took the bribe so that they would not ruin their business deals with the CB. Also, the bride and groom tables are usually a smaller folding table (usually made of wood with metal legs). She must of tried to jump up but tripped over her dress and then maybe a leg of the table. I did not see this accident but I did see the ambulance leave the CB with the bride in it.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
FH has conviced me that there is nothing to worry about. I guess I was just kind of in shock when I read it. But now I have had time to read some of the posts and I have decided that it is nothing to worry about. You have to admit, the shock of reading something like that would freak anyone out!I'm okay now, I realize that its a fabricated story.

Re: I can't believe what I just read!!!!!
My stepmother's friend was AT that wedding! It is totally true. She missed her entire reception and needed surgery! She fell back when she went to stand up for the BM toast. It is not fabricated at all, but I am sure the details are getting all messed up.
But I also think it is a total fluke! People get hurt at weddings, that is just a fact. People get hurt at the super market too but we still go. I wouldn't change my plans because of it.

Re: This is the CB's Side
Shamma I am Wanda4402. I had to get involved on that site to see what the user would say. Don't know why that is my user name but anyway.Case and point don't believe everything you hear until you listen to both sides of the story. My BM laughed and I had to as well b/c it doesn't sound so real once you tell the story. The videographer side I mean.
I think it was Cindy that said she was at a wedding where 30 people at CB got sick. Cindy can you explain when this occurred. Did they have the seafood boat? Just wondering.

Re: This is the CB's Side
You know, this is my third post and I every time I come on here I hear another outlandish story about my hall. At first, I didn't read far enough down the line and had I not, like many others possibly, a bunch of Chateau briand brides would be running around like chickens without their heads freaking out about their upcoming weddings.
Ladies, can we use this site to help each other and NOT to gossip about things we know nothing about?
Every time I come on here, I freak out and then it turns out to not be true.
GET THE FACTS straight before you write ludicrous stories that affect other people's lives, jobs, businesses, etc. It's really a shame.
This site becomes pointless in its purpose if all we do is gossip about stuff that isn't true.
How is that helping anyone?
And I mentioned last time that my sister got married there last year and we had tons of seafood in the seafood boat and no one got sick. It's possible that once someone or a group may have gotten sick but that is an instance and doesn't define anything or any hall. I love my hall and I really think I won't be logging on here anymore.

Re: This is the CB's Side
Actually, that was a post that was copied from The Knot, so the gossiping poster is not here. You might want to repost on The Knot, becuase this thread was about how that post was not true. I beleive that Taraalissa started this thread and she is a CB bride as well and was trying to determine the validity of what she had read. Almost every person on this thread defended CB and felt that the story was not true.I, like many other brides, use this board to get honest, objective opinions. I think you have mischaracterized this board and the people who post here. We do use this site to help each other and I don't think that anyone is here 'to gossip about things we know nothing about.'
There have been many wonderful posts about CB and I believe that some of the posts on this thread in particular were very complimentary. I think if you logged on more often, you would see that. And you probably would not have written such an offensive post that was directed at all of us.
Good luck with your planning.

Don't worry about the people getting sick story. It was at least a year ago-- I remember it from the papers-- it wasn't Chateau Briand.
