I cancelled my shower.

I just made the call to cancel my baby shower tomorrow. It was at a restaurant in Hoboken, and a few people had started the telephone chain worrying about the weather, so I went ahead and cancelled it.

I am super sad about it - my mom came down from Boston for it, and I dont know about rescheduling. They have next Saturday available, but they aren't sure on the Sunday - and being that stores aren't open in this area on Sundays, I feel really badly postponing to Saturday so close to the holidays. I am sure everybody has tons of shopping and so on.

Plus I don't really know how to go about re-scheduling? Do I just call everybody if we do that? I am sure the turn-out wont' be as good - and we have to pay for 35 people to have the place - we had just 35 coming this time around, and I am sure we'd lose a few this way....plus we lose our deposit if we dont' reschedule, but I guess that's not a big deal in the long run. What would you do?

Oh well. Guess it wasnt' meant to be. Mother Nature got the best of me!!!!

Maybe they will re-schedule it and suprise you??!?!?!

jenny, you can always have it after the baby. Ive heard of that too. Kind of like a 'welcome baby' and she'll be there too..
or you can just reschedule it to january? (I forgot when youre due)

I'm sorry. You can just reschedule it for another day. You can call the people and tell them the new date if you want.

You can tell the place that you want to resserve it for the Christening- if the local is okay for that. BUT I would reschedule for next week and I bet if you speak to the owner of the resturant he/she may allow you to have less people show due to the weather etc..I mean, it isn't like they can book a big party in the next week anyway.

I am so sorry, sweetie! I know how much this meant to you! I agree w/Michele...see if you can re-schedule...you might be surprised by your family and in-laws...people will find a way to attend...

Aww, Jenny, that stinks I would try and go forward and reschedule for next week. Don't let mother nature ruin your shower of baby gifts!!

thanks guys...i guess my concern with rescheduling is that it's so close to Christmas, and the weekends are hard for people now. If I can't get next Sunday I think I am going to call it a night. We run into the weekend before Christmas after that, then the weekend after New Years' , and well...baby is due only three weeks later and I dont' really want to push myself that month.

Plus the chance of another nor-easter is only more probable then!!!

I'll keep you updated.

a friend of mine missed her shower...b/c she was 6 weeks early!! so they rescheduled it when she was feeling better...

Jenny, Roger's friend baby came early and they gave the shower after, nothing wrong with that. People will understand and they will come, especially to see the baby and hold her etc. So that is an option as well. Don't give up hope. I know you were excited and all. So sorry

Awe, that really stinks! My shower was originally going to be on Sunday too, but since my MIL is throwing it for me, she thought it would be better to have it in January. So mine is scheduled for January 3rd.

Did you decide to reschedule for the 14th?

Jenny I am so sorry you had to cancel. I would definately try to reschedule it. This is important to a lot of people and I am sure they will make every effort to be there.
