I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!

Well I get a phone call this morning from my cousin (A little background info - she has been engaged for 2 years now) first she asks me to be a BM so I said yes. Then she said she wants to have the wedding either the wknd before or 2 wks before in Vegas - do I mind?. WHAT was she thinking! I can't believe it everyone is upset, so I told her to do what she wants it's her wedding.
I just don't understand people. It amazes me, now all of a sudden you want to set a date, why so close to my day? There are how many weekends in a year?

that's ridiculous!!! I suggest you tell her how you feel before she starts booking things and it's too late. I'm so sorry!!!

I agree. You would be surprised at how expensive it is around that time of the year to get married there too. My girlfriend wanted to go this year to her gal pals wedding in Vegas and it was outrageous for the rooms alone. Think twice and tell her you can't do it at that time. It's too close to your own wedding.

I know, I was just caught so off guard. I told her that no one is taking off work here and that we will fly in friday late and home sunday. But she doesn't get it!

i agree-----let her know asap how you feel. you're totally entitled to feel that way. like you said, she's been engaged for two years and all of a sudden it's imperative that she has her wedding 14 days before yours??????? That would tick me off.

I know! How could I do that? It's impossible. It bad enough I will have to fly across the country the weekend before.

i woud definitely talk to her... because having a destination wedding is definitely going to affect yours since it's so close to your date.... you will be inviting at least a third of the same people and they may have to pick and choose which wedding they want to go to... sounds like a lot of family drama up ahead unless you and perhaps your mom and aunt (or dad and uncle) or whatever the case may be, all sit down and talk this through. it's not just your wedding or her wedding, it's two weddings in the SAME family within a week!

I am in the same exact situation as you. My cousin has been with her bf for 6 years and then got engaged and decided to have her wedding 3 weeks before mine. I thought i was being selfish by being upset but i just dont undertand how someone can be so inconsiderate of other people especially MY feelings i set my date way before her. Also take into account our family hello?

ETA: Her wedding falls on the time i have finals and i go to school in calif. and the wedding is in ny, thats where my family is. I also told her i will NOT be in her bridal party.

That's just wrong. I would tell her that everyone is upset and that she is making it difficult for everyone to attend her wedding.

I am going to say something to her sis next week when I see her. I know she was there for this conversation and she had a wedding with 200+ people a few years back. She should know what I am going through and to give her sis the ok to call me and ask me if its ok is messed yup too. I am going to say what i feel to her, it will gt back to her sis but you know what that her decision. I am upset with both of them.

Def. talk to her. It's only going to get worse/more stressful if you don't. If she doesn't really have anything planned yet, she should be able to change her plans.
