I just showed fh the pic of me with short hair that I did on that website and his reply has actually brought me to tears.
He said, 'Babe, please don't get offended, but in order for a girl to pull off a short haircut she has to be in really good shape, ask any guy and he will tell you the same thing' The thing is he was so serious when he said it that I know he really, truely meant it. I know he wasn't trying to hurt my feelings but that was just so harsh.
We all know I gained a lot of weigt 2 years ago from quitting smoking and it hasn't all come off yet. Fh even propsed to me when I was at my heaviest ever, so I am sooooo shocked that he just said this.
Guys, seriously, my heart hurts right now and I didn't know who else to talk to about this.

Men can be so dumb -- I call it 'XY poisoning', lol It's like all that testosterone messes with their common sense. I am pretty sure he didn't realize how hurtful a comment like that would be. My FH said something about my weight once that caused two major fights because after he said it I thought about it everytime I looked in the mirror.

This may sound crazy but I really think its cause they love us and look at us like their 'best friends' They feel like they can say whatever they feel sometimes but most of the time it comes out wrong. Im sure he never meant to hurt your feelings he just thought he was stating an opinion. After all, its just his 'opinion'. FH loves you he just put his foot in his mouth!

ohh I am so sorry he sounds like his intentions werent to hurt you- sometimes they just blurt things out & think they are being more helpful with their complete honesty i could imagine how you feel- you should really be honest with him and let him know that he hurt you terribly Im sure he would not want to see you hurt

Guys in general just don't know how to talk. Maybe they should stay silent. My FH just told me that my a$$ was LARGE not curvy LARGE!!! He also told me he loved my back fat in the next sentence!! I wanted to kill him. Instead I dug deep into my mainhood and replied thanks honey, I love your bit$h t!ts too!!!

I can't believe FH would say something like that to you? Boys are dumb and don't know what they're talking about. When I was at my heaviest (about 50 lbs ago), my hair was cut super short, like only an inch long, and I got compliments all the time. Being in shape has nothing to do w/ pulling off short hair. Do you think he's just afraid of you having short hair? I tell FH all the time that after the wedding I'm chopping it to an inch long, and it terrifies him.

what he said wasnt nice and i dont agree with what he said or how he said it.....but at least he is telling you how he honestly feels.....maybe it can help be some sort of motivation for you....i dont think there is anything wrong with wanting your partner to look their best......at one point FH and i both gained some weight (for me it was mostly due to some medication i was taking but i was also over-eating and after being 89 lbs for my whole life i went up to 130 lbs in like 3 months - thats a huge difference for a girl my size).....but anyway, FH and I both went to the gym hardcore and we dieted together.....now im really happy with my body and i know that he enjoys my body too - im back to my old self again.....he never thought i was disgusting or fat or gross but he did notice that i went from a size 0 to a size 5 and i dont think there was anything wrong with him noticing or commenting on it....i felt the same way about him when his stomach wasnt flat anymore and he started getting a belly so i dont think you shoud be mad at him for telling you how he honestly feels - maybe just the context of the conversation was a little harsh.....im sorry you are upset

That was not nice of FH to say! If he prefers long hair & think it compliments you that's all he needed to say... Many guys speak before really thinking though. I feel sooooooooooo insecure without my long hair. But if you really want to do it- then DO IT! Your inner confidence will shine through and THEN you'll show FH!!!
