booking the hotel for OOT guests as soon as you get engaged and decide on place. I called 7 places including the ones closest to my reception hall and they were all booked!!! I couldn't believe it, but i think their is something going on the weekend of my wedding (figures). Three hotel people told me i should have blocked rooms last year!!! I finally found a nice hotel but it is 25 minutes from the reception hall...but beggers can't be choosers! It's a good thig i don't think many guersts are going to use it as i am having a day wedding and most people live in NY and NJ

Thank you for that tip, and I totally agree with you. FH & I blocked our rooms around December of 2005, and they told us we were very lucky we booked it when we did. They only had 40 rooms available, so we blocked off 30 of them.

Definately!!!! We booked right away, especially since we had a short engagement. The weekend my sister got married, there was not a hotel room to be found on Long Island because of the US Open. We ended up at this horrible 'motel' the night before the wedding.

we just blocked our rooms with 4 months to go..but i can see where if you want a certain place you'd have to do it in advance.
good idea

We blocked rooms about 4 months ago. Good thing we did it early.

We booked over a year in advance just to cover our azzzz b/c 80% of the wedding guests are out of town.
