I didn't have fun at my first fitting

I didn't have fun at my first fitting

I was so excited on my way there, but when i put my gown on and its still a little tight I was sad and upset with myself. I'm also feeling that I'm not in love with it as much as I was back last March when I purchased it. I'm hoping once i lose the rest of the weight i need it will fit better and I'll be in love with it once again.

To be honest, I'm not having fun doing anything wedding related anymore. The last few weeks I'm sad, depressed at times, angry, stressed. I hate feeling like this. I try to be happy, but I so badly want it all to be over. When my FI leaves for the firehouse at night I start to cry and wind up crying myself to sleep.

Why am I feeling like this. This is supposed to be the best time and I hate it. I have no desire to plan, make appt's or be crafty with DIY projects. Am I alone in feeling this way

Sorry to complain, I just needed to vent a little

You're definitet;yt not alone in feeling that way. I felt like that for a long time, so i took a break from planning. Then I asked FH for help, and he's taking voer a lot of stuff and making appointments and making calls and I feel a lot less burdened. I think you just need a break and some fun time with FH

I think you should definitely take a little wedding break. Even if you just spend this entire weekend not doing any wedding stuff - and dont think or talk about the wedding.

I had to do this a few times throught the planning process to keep myself sane

Even though it's a time of joy and happiness, it really is a stressful process and we all go through it. You're going to fit in your dress beautifully and you WILL love it again. This happens to a lot of brides.

edited: sorry! my suggestion was bad since you don't feel like doing projects. I agree then, and take a few weeks off from planning.

I think everyone has wedding highs and lows. Maybe just take some time out from the wedding stuff and just go out on a 'date' with FH. Something fun and not wedding related.

I definitely didn't have fun at my first fitting cause i didn't have the right undergarment.

But when I went back, I cried, because it looked right.

Believe me, you will feel better about it once it's pinned and fitting correctly...give it till the 2nd fitting, please!

Oh no!! I'm sorry you did have a good experience with your fitting!! Don't worry hun, it'll get better and you'll love your dress again, this happens to everyone!! You def need to take a break from planning so you can clear your mind and de-stress a lil. Let your FH and BP help you out with things, share the burden.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I just want to give you a great big hug...... well.. here....not the same....but...

sometimes the stress of all this is overwhelming.... then I drink a glass of wine and it gets better... not that that is the answer....

when this happens I grab my FI and lay on the couch in a bear hug.. it helps... try it.........

are all his fireman friends coming to the wedding... me and my FI are volunteer EMT's and all of them are coming... what a hoot....

Re: I didn't have fun at my first fitting

thanks ladies.

Unfortunately my FI isn't into it like am (was). If I ask him to make a call or something he'll do it, but not with any excitment. I've asked him to look into restaurants for the RD and he's yet to to it. He actually went on his own yesterday to get measured for his tux which i was happy about.

He's never home, he's always at the firehouse. He's 2nd asst chief to the FD and it takes a ton of his time and 'our' time. By the time I get home from the gym he's in the shower and getting ready to leave. I see him for maybe an hour a day and thats when he's not at his actual job which is FDNY and when he's there its a 24 hour shift. He leaves in the morning at 5:30 and doesn't return till after i'm gone for work the next morning.

The worst is I've been paying for 90% of the wedding and he just recently found out that the City is closing his fire house so he'll be out of job come the spring, which is horrible timing since thats when we are to marry.

I try so hard not to complain, but I just hit the wall and I hit it hard this time.

Thanks for the support ladies. Saturday night I think I'll go see my friends band, get a lil tipsey and have try to have fun.

he's inviting quite a few of them yes. We have to order a lot of beer LOL

I like your glass of wine idea. I forget I have a couple of bottles at home. I should just crack one open and just relax.

When my dress came in and I tried it on, the exact same thing happened to me. They zipped it up and it was t i g h t! I also didn't have that 'Oh, my dress!' feeling, I was perplexed and upset that I spent so much money on it and I expected to fall in love with it all over again.

Definitely take a break from planning, it's what I needed as well. Also speak with your FH, maybe he can help take some of the planning responsibilities off your plate. Have you done pre cana yet? Amazingly enough, pre cana really helped me re-connect with FH, I had fun just talking about the topics they asked us to discuss with each other. We felt like a couple again, and not just planning 'The Wedding'.

I have to agree with leese...Don't give up hope bc I am sure it will look gorgeous when you are right where you want to be!! No one likes to look at themselves when you are not 100% comfortable!!!

In regards to the rest of wedding planning, sometimes the hussle & bussle of doing so many things makes you not enjoy the entire process..You have time, so take a day or two & don't do anything 'wedding' related & concentrate on yourself! Sometimes you need to just step back & look from the outside!

Remember, you have the biggest support team ever!!!

You are definately not alone. Maybe yesterday was just a bad day for you. All this wedding planning is very stressful. In the beginning it is so fun and then it gets so overwhelming. My FH is absolultey clueless. My mom and I are doing everything. Just keep your head up and everything will work out. Try to take like a week or two and not to any wedding planning.

Hope you feel better.

Although most people think this is such a happy time, most brides to be will say this is also the most STRESSFULL time. It's getting close to your wedding. I think you need to take a weekend or even a week off from any wedding related activity. Set up a date night with your FH and spend some quality and fun time with him. It'll remind you why you're getting married and how in love you are. Sometimes we need a little breather, even from the best of circumstances.

Right now I bet ya all of us are feeling the same way. Girl i start to cry for no reason nowadays. This is a very trying time in our lives. It will be over soon and u will look back on it and say it was all worth it. The crying is a sign that u are nervous about what is to come in the next few months. Trust me u are not alone and we all here, whether we want to admit it or not have experienced and are experiencing the same mix of emotions.

Which firehouses are your FH's or yourself in? Mine is at West Islip Fire Department. I know how you feel about the stress, it is really stressful at times. Fh is getting pretty sick of me constantly talking about wedding stuff, but I can't help it I am so excited and I am constantly thinking about it! ANyway now he calls me bridezilla whenever I talk about anything wedding... its ok though, he knows someone has to do it! Alright I'm done! lol

Re: I didn't have fun at my first fitting

As the other ladies have mentioned here - you are not alone - I havent gone for my fitting yet, but I have definitely gone thru depressing slumps - actualy, you ladies may not know this, but the sillier my posts on here are, its a good indication I am down and just need to do somehting funny...

I am just bouncing back after a LONG depressing slump - don't worry - you'll get thru it - yesterday i was talking to my BM - and I told her that after the summer, I'll be so much happier - I said - I'll be done with my wedding in June, and then done with school in July!

she said - don't you dare talk about your wedding like that - don't look at it as somehting you want to be done with!

It helped a little to hear her say that!
