I don't know how i'm going to pack up my room!-mini vent

HI Gals,

So i still live at home with my folks and i can't get over how much stuff i have. FH and i are looking to move out of state after the wedding. He's been telling me i need to just start packing a little bit at a time. I don't know why i chose tonite to start.
Needless to say i should have started 2 years ago!
I know i'm not bringing EVERYTHING- but i just don't even know where to start- it's so overwhelming! I have lots of collectible/glass items. I have boxes for most things-somewhere in the crawl space storage. But even now the little bit i did- i don't have anywhere to store it!
I called FH just to talk because i felt so overwhelmed-BIG MISTAKE!!
He read my emotions wrong and assumed i was pissed and angry when all i wanted was to talk and vent a little. In the end we both got pissed and hung up. We just apologized, but i still don't know how i'm gonna all this stuff packed up and continue to do all my wedding planning too.

The best thing is to get big garbage bags and throw some stuff out and don't look back. I find that to be the easiest. Start now and take on one box or section a week. I know it is overwhelming, especially since you are moving out of state and have to get it all packed and ready in one trip.

I'm sorry to hear that you have to sort through so much stuff. I hate organizing things myself. I know this is a difficult transition for you to have to basically pack your whole life into one suitcase. Since you and FH have decided to move out of state after the wedding, it's no use procrastinating and disregarding it. Find a day when you are free and just deal with tossing and packing. Eventually, you will have to face the piles of stuff so might as well get over with it now.
Start with a small section, that's the best advice I can give you. Don't leave it alone and move to another section. Finish one at a time. Get giant black bags and dump out things you won't need or won't see yourself using again. Make a list of things you need/must have and things you can see yourself not needing/throw out. If you have old clothes/items you can't bear to lose/depart, donate them to salvation army for a good cause. I would def recommend to pack the necessities/basics- clothes, photo albums/pictures/frames,family heirloom, jewelry, and then pack the next most important thing you need to have with you. Little by little, it will get easier as the piles disappear. You'll get the hang of it and figure out what goes in the trash and what to take with you.
