i don't know what's up with me. i don't think i like my dress anymore. but with exactly 6 months to go, there's not much i can do.
i have a big tulle ballgown and now i wish i had gotten a smaller, a-line gown. i feel huge in the darn thing. it pulls me into a weird hourglass shape which makes my waist look small, but the rest of me look monstrous.
here's one pic where i looked pretty happy about my dress:
i just don't know. i already switched my photographer, which i KNOW was a great decision. i don't know if i'm just stressed out (i am) or if i really don't like it.
when i bought it, i really really liked it...but didn't love it. but i couldn't find anything else i liked better for weeks, so i got it.

thanks everyone for your nice words.
i don't know what it is...i just don't feel it. it's hard to walk around in. i don't even have my slip on with it...and the slip is MONSTROUS!! it's n.y.bride's and it's as big as the dress. ahhhh!!!!!
i just feel like i'm going to look like a guidette. with my tiara, hair all up and this monstrous dress, i think it's too much. and i have been searching for a veil to match for months!! i make the poor woman at lilettes crazy each time i go in. she's such a sweetheart thank god for dealing with me.
i just don't see many pics of brides in tulle ballgowns so that doesn't help me. i wish there were more. i'm one of those people who doesn't like to be the only one doing something. i like to blend in.
I think that picture looks fabulous. That dress is gorgeous and is flattering on you.
Maybe you don't need the slip if that's a concern.
You could also try different hairstyles or no tiara if you think that will help you feel more elegant.
I think you will be a beautiful bride.

Re: i don't like my dress anymore
Hi!
I had major second thoughts about my poofy gown..I am more of an a-line person and figured I would do something different once in my life. But, at the last fitting, I felt really good about my choice.
Oh, and one thing that I had my seamstress do because I was so unsure of the poofyness. I had two tulle slips underneath my gown. I had her attach one to the dress. For the second one, I had her just put elastic around it, so that if I started feeling self-conscience about all of the poof, I could just take the second skirt off.
Good luck!

Re: i don't like my dress anymore
Hi.
I'm going to have to go with the other girls on this one -- I really REALLY love that dress on you. I know that sometimes I feel like people tell me things are nice or look good just to be nice, but I seriously think you look beautiful in that gown. I have seen REALLY poofy gowns that made the woman look diminutive, but this one isn't so poofy (you don't even have the slip on, right?) and is actually really classy looking, IMHO.
You have to love it though... If you hate it, I'm sure you could find something off the rack someplace with enough time, or a company with a quicker ordering time. I ordered mine the beginning of November and it's supposed to be in in early February...
maybe the next time you go for a fitting, do a hair/makeup trial beforehand, so you get the whole look... and can really picture it in your mind what you'll look like on your wedding day
good luck!!

I think your dress is very pretty and you don't look big in it. Maybe they can reduce the skirt with alterations? The pics I took in mine make me look bigger than I am-maybe it's just the camera?
Congrats on the photographer find-glad you feel better about that! (wish me luck!)

I think the gown looks great on you, honest, I don't think that you should stress about the way you look in it. I would suggest though if it is not the dress you envisioned youself in then you should keep looking. I just would not look because you think you look bad in it becasus you don't you look beautiful.

Re: i don't like my dress anymore
thanks again everyone. i really don't want to go dress shopping again, and i really don't know what dress i would get anyway!
i don't want to go for a hair trial until i choose a veil...which is another source of stress! i have tried on DOZENS and can't decide!
the slip looked so beautiful under n.y.bride's dress--i was so excited to get it! so i think i just need to give it another chance. now if only i can pick a #^&$^&% veil!!!
i'm going to think about it this weekend. my poor FH doesn't know what to tell me...
maureen...if you come to ny in the next few weeks, we're going veil shopping!

Your dress is beautiful and you look great in it!
I just went through the same thing and am still not loving how I look in my dress. Once it's fitted I know I'll love it!

I'm kind of feeling that way know too. I have seen some of the new dresses out for 2006 and am having my doubts but I'm sure once I put my gown on again I will love it.

bella11 has a similar dress and she looked stunning.... i really think you look beautiful & believe me, I am a huge critic! i think you should get a plain veil that matched the color of your dress- plain veil with no edging maybe some hair pins if you think a tiara is too guidette looking..i think your tulle dress is classy and elegant

I think you look beautiful in that dress. I love it!! I don't know if you remember, but I felt the same way about my dress. My dress is similar to yours, but I must say it's also very different. I haven't seen any quite like it. As a matter of fact, I was feeling a lot better about my gown until I saw yours....Wanna trade?? But seriously, you don't look monstrous at all! I think it's totally gorgeous!!!

Re: i don't like my dress anymore
I think it's a beautiful dress, and you it looks fantastic on you!!! I got a smaller A-Line dress, and I sometimes wish I had gone with a ball gown...go figure.
Don't make any rash decisions. Just sleep on it, and try to de-stress. then make a decision with a clear head!
