I know what the scale says shouldn't matter- but how much muscle can one person gain????
the number keeps going up- and I know I look better then I ever have- I just don't understand how the numbers can keep climbing
it's really get frustated- maybe my scale is broken
do you think having a 260 man step on it all the time could do something to it- it only goes up to 280???????

Re: I don't understand
When I started weight training I weighed 116 lbs. I am 5'-4.5' tall. I was a size 4.
I don't remember how long, maybe 6 months or less, I then weighed 124 lbs. I was a size 2-4. no cardio done. maybe once a week or less.
this was ten years ago. I am now a stronger and still weigh 124. I buy size 4 in pants and 0-2 for dresses.
that is almost ten lbs. of muscle gained because I lost fat on top of that.
How much are you gaining?

Re: I don't understand
I was 120 and 5'1 after my weight loss- then I started lifting weights 2 times a week- I weight 125
I still wear a size 2 or 4- and I can almost buttom a pair of size 27 jeans
I have muscles I never had before - back and abs
I am losing fat- I see it in my abs- and my legs have never looked so good- I was going to get lipo on the sides of my thights and there is nothing left to lipo
what do you think?

you are doing fine. Don't look at the scale so much. You will go down as soon as you start dieting more after you gained the muscle you want.

Re: I don't understand
do you think I need to really 'diet' I eat pretty good as it is
I guess I can do better- I have slowly been making changes- more water- better dinners- dressing on the side for salads- nothing drastic- more a lifestyle change
I feel like I am going to have to really cut back to lose the weight- but I don't want to lose the muscle

Re: I don't understand
Beth This is happening to me too. Since the middle of Jan, i have changed my gym routine and have been doing more weight training and some cardio. I def. know there are changes in my bodya nd i think they are positive. I went to the dr the other day and they weighed me and i couldnt beleive it. I was up like 4lbs. I tookt his as a good thing bc i know my arms are more muscular and my legs are too so.......
I refuse to weigh myself anymore and i think you need to just STOP doing it.

Re: I don't understand
I sort of have a similar problem. I have been dieting a litttle and exercising a lot and i'm definitely seeing my arms more musclular and my abs are more defined. But because I am the same weight, I don't know how my wedding dress will fit. I should have measured my waist when I ordered the dress but didn't think of it. Now I think I'm smaller but it's hard to gage. I hope my dress is going to be a little loose when it comes in.

Re: I don't understand
if I don't train much for a few weeks, but my diet is still good, I tend to loose weight. This is a bad sign to me. It means I am getting a mushy flat butt!

Okay so maybe it's not so bad. I mean I'm losing a little, but I'm hovering around the same weight range.

Re: I don't understand
Yeah, this sounds pretty normal. Lately, my weight has not gone down, but from my clothing I definitely can tell I have lost some fat. The main difference is weight training. I was doing primarily cardio until a couple months ago, but adding weight training to the mix seems to have helped me lose addtl. inches.

Re: I don't understand
I know that you are knowledable, dedicated and from your picture, you are in good shape, so please do not take this the wrong way...
WHAT THE EFF IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!
LOL!!!
Seriously, if your clothes are fitting great and you know that you are look good, what does the scale number say?
Women in general are not going to gain tremendous amounts of muscle mass because of the lack of testosterone production. This DOES NOT mean they will not gain muscle but just not the extent that Men or non-steroid enhanced women will.
I say the darn thing is broken. if the next 1 says the same thing, it is broken. The mirror and your clothes will NEVER break so keep using them as a judge.
If you are concerned though, go into a more aerobic based routine and change your diet to more of even split (protein/fat/carbs). The aerobic focus will cause some atrophy and rid your body of some excess water weight. 2 weeks or so for somebody with your background should produce serious scale movement. Since you have a good muscle base, changing your routine will not diminish your results. YOU MAY however not feel as 'tight' because water will leave the muscle.

Re: I don't understand
Beth, youre doing GREAT and you should be proud of you progress. Are you still w/ the trainer? Is he doing evals on you? You should get your BF% checked often and see the difference there. THATLL def. make you feel better when you see that number decrease
