I feel like a bad mommy

As some of you may know my sister was battling breast cancer in Aug. 2004. On Christmas we found out it traveled to her brain. Jake's Christtmas was horrible. I have no pictures because we spent most of it in the hospital. I had my son on Nov. 15, 2004 and since then I have been taking care of my sisters 3 children as well as my own. I feel that like I am neglecting my own baby while I take care of her children. I feel like i am a horrible mother for this, even though I would do anything for him. I just need to vent right now because I am so overwhelemed.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. You are not a bad mommy - I think you're a wonderful Mommy and more for all that you are doing and pulling off right now to support your family. 's to you!!

Sounds to me like you are an absolutely GREAT mommy. I am so sorry that you and your family are going through this - and try not to be so hard on yourself. You are doing a wonderful thing taking care of your sisters children. Someday your son will know just how great you are! Hang in there

I dont think anyone couldve said it any better. You are a great mom. Its not easy and you are doing a great thing.

I definitely don't think you sound like a babd mommy right now, you sound like a SUPERWOMAN-MOMMY! I give you so much credit, your little boy is lucky to have such a strong willed, hardworking Mommy. Don't feel bad for him, he is the lucky one here! Once your sister is feeling better and is in remission (positive thoughts), you'll be able to concentrate just on him, at this point he is so young that he doesn't know that you;re time is spread thin. Prayers to you and your family, what a tremendous woman you are!!!

Diana you are not a bad Mommy. You are generous, family oriented, and loving person. And while you may not have the pictures of your baby's first Christmas, you are teaching him something more valuable already- the importance of family and being there for one another and LOVE!

You have a lot on your plate right now, and it is completely understandable that you feel so overwhelmed. Feel free to vent here but you are doing a wonderful things.

Wow. To have a child and then at the same time to be hit with such a devasting illness in your family Personally, I would not be holding it together 1/2 as good as you. To care for her children, your baby, and your sister PLUS deal with all of the emotions that go along with this would be any person over the edge. Is there anyone who can help you one day care for her children? Just so you can have a day with your baby and relax a bit? maybe a cousin or aunt or good friend?
I will keep your sister in my prayers- I am sure the news of her cancer spreading and knowing that she has 3 small children must be the worst thing imaginable for any mother. My heart goes out to her, to you and your whole family. I wish I had perfect words to help right now but I know that nothing is really helping You are doing a wonderful thing for your sister and giving love to her children just shows what a wonderful, special mother you really are!!!

You are not a bad mommy, you sound like a strong woman who is doing the best she can in a bad situation. I think it is wonderful that you are taking care of your sister's children as well as caring for a newborn, in addition to dealing with the emotions that come with having an ill family member.

You are not a bad mommy you are still taking care of him when he needs you. Plus you are are super mom cause you have other children that you are caring for. Your Sister thinking you are an angel to her cause you are helping her out. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. My pray will be going to her what is her name. I will have other people pray to.

Thanks everyone for all of your kind and supportive words. Everyday gets a bit easier and we are all starting to get into a routine. I will keep you all updated. I thnak god that I have LI Weddings to vent and turn to. YOU are all great.
