I can't believe I am even posting this but hopefully someone will provide me with some advice/words of wisdom....
I plan on tanning before my wedding... I'm blonde, wearing white etc. Seems pretty natural to me... I'm half greek so i get fairly tan as well.
I've asked my fiance, in addition to one of our good friends/bm asking him, in the gentlest of ways if he would do a lil something for his skin as he is irish/scottish/english etc.
He is adament about NOT tanning in any capacity (spray on, tanning beds, beach anything) and thinks I am being ridiculous. I should also note that half the wedding party is Latina/Tans a lot (my brother being the latter) and will all be pretty bronzed up come the wedding....
So, my options are to drop it and run the risk of him looking either out of place in the photos or a bit sickly in comparison or???
Please be honest if I am off my rocker here, and if i'm not, at least some suggestions about how to broach the subject with a bit more success.
thank you a million times in advance!

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
My FH is tan year round. As a bus driver, his head and arms are exposed all year long. Legs are a different story (and different color ) I am the pale one in all the pics, but I do color up nicely. I plan on tanning via the sun, not too much, up until my wedding date.
Your FH, being of english/scottish descent, will probably burn instead of tan. Tan if you want to, leave FH alone.

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
I def see what you are saying, you dont want your FH to look pale white and you dark. Does he go out in the sun at all?? He can just take walks outside or just being outside and he will get color and he can avoid the tanning beds. That is what my FH does and he gets so dark. Its not bad to ask you FH to go tanning, I would want my FH to have color for his day bec I will go tanning as well

I am Sicilian and way darker than my Irish/Italian FH - i am sorry to laugh but i never ever once thought that we had to match. . .i would just leave him alone

OH WAIT!!!!! sorry i read the post quickly and thats what i get lol but i thought you were asking if you should go tanning
SOrry but if you want to tan then that is your decision, but you can't tell him what to do ESPECIALLY if he is so against it.
I don't know why you would think its gonna look funny bc hes gonna be lighter skinned than you. FH is darker than me, im a bit tanned now but im still lighter and during most of the year hes alot darker than me. Not every couple is the same color skin and that doesn't mean the pics won't come out right
This is his decision and his decision ONLY. I am sorry but i would get mad if someone INSISTED i tanned, i would feel like i am being criticized for how i look and like it's not good enough
I was a BM in a wedding last year and the bride told me that she'd like me to get a spray tan. Meanwhile, I honestly did have a decent amount of color, just not as dark as she would have liked I guess. Anyway, my jaw dropped. But, I just kept my mouth shut and ignored her.

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
Warning spray on tans can rub off. My sil was going to get one before her wedding snd the salon told her not to. They said it can rub off on her dress. Be careful about getting them or you fh getting one. You don't want you white or ivory dress to have tan lines.

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
I don't think you should suggest it to him anymore. Some people don't like tanning for health reasons and if he is as fair as you're are describing, he will really only get red and look burnt not golden like you're hoping. Don't drop him from the wedding party.

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
my fh is latino and i am italian and pale in comparison to him- i will probably tan a little before the wedding- but compared to him and his friends i will still be pale- but the contrast between my FH and I always manages to look good in photos. If it were me, I wouldnt force him to tan if he didnt want to.

Re: I feel so shallow re: tanning
Again, thank you for all the responses and I think I now fall between the two points of view.
However, I will say that it seems like plenty of brides do unnatural or artificial things before their wedding i.e. makeup that they wouldnt wear for other formal events, losing weight that never bothered them before etc. I see the fake tan as an extension of all of this and was also trying to avoid problems with digitally correcting every single photo.
thanks again for so much input! the advice was totally appreciated
