Its in Maine Which may not be that big of a problem since most of my moms side of the family is from there. I would love more than anything to have a semi-destination wedding there but my parents really want to keep it on or near LI and since they are paying for a lot of it I feel like I should go along with it. What do you girls think? Also do you have any recommendations for places around LI that are similar to it? I'm already going to look at Snapper Inn but I hear that people from the restaurant can just wander in to your CH. Here's the place : dream wedding

WOW, the Maine wedding looks ridiculous. Its beautiful. I love the water, hence why I am getting married at CLM.

I was looking into the Snapper Inn also, but my waxer, Dori, said not too bc it isnt so nice.
I think that since we live on li it is easy to find somewhere that is nice...there is a place is sayville by the ferry's that i cant think of the name(maybe lands end)..also the atlantica(sp?) in westhampton beach is beautiful
i think you can have a great wedding here that will be comprable to the Maine wedding.

Hi, That place in Maine is beautiful!!! I would really try to go with your instinct and explain the importance of it to your family. If it's totally out of the question, you could try Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, NJ. I, like you, wanted a mini destination wedding and Florida was out of the question...we looked closer. We are creating a wedding weekend for our close family and friends. They will stay with us for the weekend and we will have our ceremony the last day. The reception will be back home. It's a little more money to do it this way..but it's definitely a mini destination wedding. If Ocean Place Resort doesn't work out, there are a lot of other great places along the ocean in Sea Bright, New Jersey too.

P.S. Long Branch and Sea Bright are about 45min to 1 hour from Verrazano Br.

it's GORGEOUS!!!! if you can pull off a Maine wedding that's great but if you feel like you need to be able to be close to the RH.. then you definitely are going to want to look at places on Long Island. there are beautiful places on the water....
I am getting married at Giorgio's and the beach is like a 2 minute walk from there and when you get married there you take all of your pics by the water it's GORGEOUS

However, if your looking for a place in LI , let me know what your looking for and i'll try to find a place for you..I did a ton of research for RHs near the water so I can try to help.

Thanks girls...the Crescent is definitely out of my price range, as is lands end, Gurneys and Atlantica all of which I looooove. I'm getting some prices from the place in Maine so we will see what happens! I'm not going to book anything yet anyway, so might as well just compile a lot of info. I'll keep you posted

What if you did 2 weddings...one here that your parents are paying for and then get a small group of people together and go there?? Or officially get married there and then have a party here when you get back for everyone to celebrate.
