i wasn't going to post this until my last day but oh well. Today I gave my 2 weeks notice at work. I was actually going to do it april 10th and this way april 24th would've been my last day but because of my whole foot situation i didn't want to be messed up by not giving them time to find somebody else so I did it today. I told them I'll either finish the first week of May if they find somebody and incase it takes them a little bit longer the latest I'll stay is May 14th. I was so afraid to do it too lol but phew a huge weight lifted off my shoulders

Re: i gave my 2 weeks
Ahh, I had a feeling what was bothering you had to do with your job. I was going to say I'm sorry, but it sounds like something you needed to do. Good for you! And, I can imagine the weight lifted off your shoulders! That should be a little stress too now that you made the difficult decision before the wedding. And, I don't blame you with the commute...that alone is a relief.
I worked in NJ for many years. It was very stressful and for a long time it was making me miserable. It was a difficult decision and transition for me to make, but like you're saying, once I finally made the decision it was the best thing I ever did and I felt so relieved.
Everything happens for a reason...this comes at a good time. Like you said, the money part works out a little better for you. Everything will fall into place and you will find something you are happier doing.

it really does make you miserable lol it was so hectic at times. If i didnt leave at 4:30 on the dot or by 4:32 the lates those 2 minutes would make my commute an hour longer lol it was crazy. But i would have to make the path train that came at 4:32 or 4:36 so i would have to run out of my building luckily the path was right outside and fly down the escalators to make one of those trains preferably the 4:32. Once i got out of the path at wtc i had to run to make the 4:45 E train, and to get to the E, once i got off the platform on the path there were a flight of stairs then you walk for a bit go through turnstiles walk some more then go up another flight of stairs walk a little more and another flight of stairs then walk a little bit to the escalator and then again walk even more go through the MTA station go through the turnstiles and then to the train so most of the time i had to do all that in about 5 minutes or a little bit under, i ran for dear life. If i made the 4:45 E train the i would get to penn about 2 mins before my 5:04 LIRR train left and had to run to catch that. If i missed the 4:45 E train it would S*Ck bc i get to penn at 5:06 and JUSt miss the LIRR and now i had to wait around for 40 mins until the next train and then when i got off had a bit to walk too. And most of the time i got home at 6:30 so took me 2 hours lol. But yeah just to show how annoying it was and how much just 2 mins effected me lol. Most of the time i didnt make the 5:04 bc if i get delayed at work even a few mins there was no chance.
Although i hated the commute there were other things but yeah now its all done with

Oh, I know exactly what you're saying!! I say that all the time...those couple of minutes make a big difference. I didn't get home until about 8:30 Friday night because I JUST missed my train by not even a minute!! And then I had to wait about a half an hour. I've taken the PATH a few times so I have an idea what you mean...but to have that as a daily commute, I can't imagine. Right now my commute is over 2 hours so I understand how you feel...it's pretty exhausting. That's why I try to give myself enough time. I try not to run, but no matter what you still end up rushing!!
Well, good luck with whatever it is you decide to do!

Enjoy this time!! The right thing will come, after the wedding!! it will be perfect. Remember, you spend more time @ work then you do with family. if you were unhappy at work, it's not worth it. My philosophy: Work to live, don't live for work....

well for now still have to go lol, just have to see how long it will take to find somebody else. So im guessing they'll either just give me the full 2 weeks which will be beginning of May, or if it takes a little bit longer to have me wait until the 14th which is when i said was the latest i will stay. I should've just said my 2 weeks and not volunteer for an extra week just in case
it is so true how much time you spend at work, most of your day is spent there and might as well be happy if that is the case

Denise congratulations!!!!! I am actually leaving my job right before the wedding too (of course it's not as soon as you, but June 3 is my last official day), but I just turned in my letter of resignation effective for that date!! It felt great, but also weird....so I totally hear where you're coming from....
....but isn't it an awesome feeling to know you will start a new life with your FH and hopefully find a great new job too!

you know what i remember your whole post about it and when to actually quit, i was going to Fm you to ask you what you did bc some suggested i quit after the HM and get a paid vacation and yeah makes alot of sense but i just decided to do it this way and get it over with now instead of coming back from HM and then doing it all.
But congrats to you, glad it worked out for you and you figured out when to do it.
It does feel great lol its like WOW this will really be a whole new life but i like it. Good luck to you

Hey Dee, I think you made the right decision. If you're unhappy there you're better off not wasting your time and finding a job that you'll enjoy. Best of luck on the job hunting and the wedding soon approaching
