I hate my job (vent)

obviously i am posting under an alias, for fear that someone may recognize me at work.

i have been out of work due to having surgery. my doctor will not give me clearance to go back to work until september 8. school starts september 2.

when i told my boss this she was not happy. as a matter of fact she was down right nasty.

whatis wrong with people? i obviously feel bad that i can not come back to work right away, but i dont feel like sacrificing my health b/c we are understaffed. whats four more days????

Well, I learned the hard way about places of employment and how screwed up they are. I slipped in the parking lot at my school last January during that really bad snow storm because they didn't bother to shovel, plow or put sand or salt down. I filled out an injury report form and they sent me to their doctor. I found out that I sprained my neck and shoulder. Fine. The doctor did not want me to work for the next week, but my school told me if I wanted to get paid, I better come in because it did not cover sick days. Well, I came in Monday morning, and they said, 'Did you punch in?' And I said yes. Then they said, 'Oh, by the way, you're disqualified for workman's comp because you have to be out 5 straight days.' I WAS FURIOUS. I even sought legal action, but I decided it was bad karma and it wasn't worth it. ANYWAY, I'm sorry to hear this, and what I learned was that you NEED to do what the doctor tells you, he wouldn't tell you it if he didn't think it was necessary. Your job will just have to understand and make do. Let them beotch, it's all they can do.

I am so sorry that you have to deal with insensitive people. I hate when people are all work, work, work without concern for their workers health and welfare.

I know it is difficult but let it roll off your back. You can't go back - this is for a medical reason - not becuase you want to spend more time at the beach!!

THey can act like jerks, but you do have your rights and doctors orders. Your health comes first, so don't let them bully you.

It's like when you call in sick instead of your boss asking 'how are you feeling' they ask 'when do you think you'll be back?'
