I hate my real estate lady!!!

So Fh and I put in an offer on a co-op and it got accepted a little less than 2 weeks ago. We were SOOO

We were supposed to go in to sign the contract today.. and we get a call from the real estate lady saying someone else put in a much higher bid and they are going to take that!!

***?!?!?!

I know we haven't signed.. but we were signing TODAY!

Plus.. we were using the listing agent.. and the owner moved to the west coast.. so the agent had the keys.. they could have said 'Sorry they are going to contract' or 'Sorry there is already an accepted offer we aren't showing that apt'

When we were previously looking..we got those 2 answers from many agents when the apts we liked were already being sold!!!

I am SO mad!

it can also be that the couple changed their minds, this is happening alot lately since ppl aren't getting what they expected for their homes/apt. Who knows what happened, but don't let it bring you down because i am sure something great will come alone and maybe even something alot better

Yea the market is SO crazy lately.. who knows what happened!

I just keep saying that everything happens for a reason!

can that really happen? im going to ask FH about that, hes in real estate on the side sorry that happened to you!

The Real Estate Business is soooooo shady and very unfair. They are so greedy, and even if you werent in contract, they should of told the other people it was going into contract.

We called many houses, and were not able to see them cause there was a buyer interested in it already.

The only positive I can give you is that this was not the house for you and that something better will come along, and that you will find the right place for both of you

Yea we were told many times that we couldn't see places due to them having accepted offers already.. I wish people would have had the same courtesy for us!

Oh well.. hopefully now we can find a gorgeous mansion for like $5.00

it's true though, everything happens for a reason and you'll probably find something alot better...i asked in the other thread but in case you didnt see, what area are you looking in...ive looked at hundreds of listings of co-ops lol but not sure if its the area you want

I just want to add since a lot of people are knocking agents- an offer is not solid until it is a signed contract- so many houses continue to be shown or sold after the fact because of the owners.

Look at it this way- As a real estate agent, lets say you make 1.5% (for the sake of argument) of the sale- so if the house is 500k that means $7500- if the bid goes up to 510k- thats only another $150- so its really the owners that are pushing for the extra... just wanted to clear that up because agents get a bad rap but we work really hard & only get paid if there is a sale- which 99% of the time there isnt

yeah, she really didn't do anything wrong. Sorry! Coming from a recent seller of a condo, I was pissed at my agent for turning people away before we signed contracts. my lawyer actually called and yelled at him. But I'm sorry that this happened to you

He is really that great! We used him for a rental a few years ago, and then for the house this summer. We always look forward to chocolate for valentine's day, calendars, magazines, recipes, etc. He must spend so much on client gifts! He truly is awesome!
