I hate this wedding, I just want OUT!!!

This wedding is turning into the biggest circus ever and I'm ready to just throw in the towel. I wanted a small, intimate affair of 120 guests. I understood that this was an unreasonable request so I said ok, 150. As of this weekend we had 254 on the list and I just got an email from FH's mom adding 3 more people!!!!!!!!! So I email FH and say what the f* and he says 'well, we are reasonably close with them. Please don't get upset about adding handful of people.' Ok, first of all, how close could they be when the guest list was done eight months ago and this is the first time they were mentioned??? Second of all, do not tell me not to get upset - my biggest pet peeve is when people tell me how I should be feeling. And if we all added just a 'handful' of people, we'd be talking about 15, not three. That's ok too??

It's not these particular three people, it's the 154 other ones too. I hate this. I should be walking down the aisle to the Barnum & Bailey theme song. And I can't even say screw it, who cares, at least I have my honeymoon to relax on because we've postponed that for 2 more months.

I'm sorry for the b!tching, I just really am about to cry right now.

Maybe we should get our MIL's together -- they could outdo each other and leave us alone to have a nice picnic!

Oh no!!!! I totally don't blame you for feeling completely frustrated at this point. Who is paying for this reception? I hope it's not you and FH! How does he really feel about this?

This happened to a friend of mine. Try not to get yourself too worked up. We all ended up having a great time.

No, it's our parents collectively. His family is footing a big portion of the bill, which is so great and I truly do appreciate it but at this point, I don't give a rat's a$$ about the money, it's the integrity of the wedding (or what's left of it) that I'm trying to preserve. This is NOT me, or FH for that matter. We are not showy people that need a billion people around us to celebrate.

I will be saying 'Hi, nice to meet you' way more times on my wedding day than any bride ever should.

Believe me, you're not alone. My invite list grew way out of control, too, and I feel like it's becoming a circus, too. We all know how you feel - how sad, though, there's at least three posts today about close family (siblings, parents) making the wedding about what they want and need, and not what the bride and groom want and need. It's so sad, isn't it, that people become selfish and judgmental at the time you need selflessness and support the most?? Good luck!!! I hope this helps - at the end of the day, you and FH will be married, and 2500 people at your wedding can't take the joy out of that.

yeah...i think weddings make people insane and they think its all about them!

Why why why cant they see they are virtually unimportant in the decision making process...they shouldnt be allowed to dictate clothes, guests, $ or anything.

Im going through almost the same thing....we just need to count on each other for support

i am in the same boat and its acutally turing out that i may have to change rooms cause the one i orignally booked wont hold that many people and i booked the hall for the room and now.....uhhhhh i SO feel your pain....and then they tell us HOW TO FEEL!

your first mistake was thinking you can actually have control over YOUR OWN WEDDING
you dont ....you end up compromising EVERYTHING!

I have no advice..thankfully We have not run into the problem you have and it looks like there is no changing the situation for you. BUT I would sit down with everyone or email them or call them and tell them you are starting to not like the 'feel' or the way the wedding is going and could everyone look over the guest list one more time and is it possible to cut a few people or make an A and B list to try and get things smaller. If that is not possible, then you and FH have to put your foot down and say no more guests no matter what. That you appreciate their paying for this wedding but you are starting to feel unhappy about it and that seems to be the ****** issue. Then you just have to come to grips with the large guest list as it is. If you cant chnage it, find a way to accept it. Sounds like it will be hard but you'll have a lot of fun and I would try to focus on anything other then the guest list for now, till you can get a handle on how you feel.

I am so with you..................Ours is the same.....3 ring circus!
I work for an airline and when ever I speak to honeymooners going to thier honeymoon destination they all say it was worth every bit of the aggravation.

So thats what I am banking on.

I totally feel your pain
