I HATE WEDDINGS!!!! VENT!!!

It is perfectly okay to not like traditional things- a lot of people don't! I agree with the girl who posted about saying' thank you, I will consider that..' Just breath and remember it is your day and your FH's day. You have to do what you both want. Just do your best to smile at opinions and then do what you want anyway. Maybe try not to tell too may peopl what your plans and ideas are so as to avoid an opinion. I know that can be hard sometimes. And feel free to come on here and tell your opinions and vent anytime!

BTW, I had a mix of traditional and non-traditional things at my wedding, and you didn't insult me by saying you find traditional things boring. I know everyone has different taste!

at our wedding we did traditional things but we did the music OUR WAY, the design/theme we picked. I have a song listing in my review of all the things we used. People loved it - even the stuffy old poeple were like oh wow this is interesting.

Yea its about the people around you/guests and you have to consider them but you don't have to throw everything out of the window for them. I picked heavy songs for the reception for key moments so people were like oh okay this is what they like but we are not being beat over the head with it. I picked nice but stll us music for the ceremony, etc.

I also think going overboard is kinda like putting too much butter in the buttercream. It gets suffocating I find canon d borrrrring too - and ava maria is for funerals not weddings in my book IoI

We used alot of non-traditional music in our wedding because I find most of the 'regular' stuff uninspiring as well. Try to think of movies that you like or hobbies that you have that you can try and pull inspiration from. For example, we used a song by the electronica group Underworld called 'Ess Gee' for our BP entrance (because we love them and it sounded pretty wedding-y) and a song from a video game that DH and I spent HOURS of our time playing for my entrance ('Dearly Beloved' from Kingdom Hearts 2). We also used music from our favorite movies for reception entrances and 'event' songs; like, the theme from 'Fantasmic!' for my parents entrance since they love Disney World, the Imperial March and the theme from 'Sin City' for the BP and DH and I's entrances. We used the theme from 'Grindhouse' for the garder toss. All of this stuff was a pretty big hit with our guests since it's off-beat but recognizable while still keeping things in-line with what WE envisioned for our wedding.

I remember spending hours and hours listening to every cd and downloading TONS of songs to find just the right tone and what-not. Some things weren't even picked when it came time for me to meet with my DJ, so I had to reschedule our appointment and it almost drove me crazy. BUT you will find things you love, I guarantee it.

As far as your Grandmother goes, gramma's will always be gramma's and mine was not too thrilled by what I was doing either but I think I won her over in the end, she had a blast and so did everyone else and we didn't have to sacrifice who we were and what we wanted for that to happen.
