I have an 'interesting' idea for my card box...what do ya'll think?

so, I was wracking my brain for ideas for my cardbox, and came up with this...what do you think.

I want to have the box look like a bound book. I would take the front cover, binders, and back cover of a real Shakespeare books (like this one, see link) and have the top and other side panel painted with 'lines' to represent the look of pages (thank God my fh is handy! LOL) with a slit at the top for cards to go in...what do you think?

I think it's a FANTASTIC IDEA!!!! I love it!

I made something very similar a few years back for a book-signing event...but it was a 'suggestion' box...

I think that's a great idea, Jess!!! It ties into your theme perfectly!!!!

I like it. Most especially because it is 'interesting'.

AND I (once again) would suggest paper-source if you need book binding supplies. And they sell these drop spine box kits you can cover any way you please.

I think its a great idea but honestly, I love books and I would feel so guilty destroying a book...

this is my BIGGEST problem with it...so I have to find a way to rebind it once it's all said and done.

I am going to make it, but I am taking the actual covers from the books and mounting them on to the box to make the facade, so it looks just like a real book.

If the book means something to you - the cover honestly can be replicated very easily, and you won't have to destroy the book.

on leather? yes, I want it on leather..I want it to look authentic.

anyway fh is gong to remove it 'whole' so we can glue the binding back on. neither of us really have time to paint or anything like that. I can't think of another way to do it that is 'doable'

well, you can theoretically use book binding materials and make it. pleather or leather. But if you already have the book and are willing to destruct and reconstruct it, I say go for it.
