I have another interview coming up, and my friend who has interviewed with the company before told me that they like to do a phone interview before they schedule you to come to their office.
What should I expect with a phone interview? Has anyone ever had one? Thanks, Scott

I actually like phone interviews because it saves you a trip if the position is not what you had envisioned.
Phone interviews can range just like in person interviews (minus having the ability to stick your tongue out and roll your eyes ), it depends who is conducting them. It can be a 'pre-screening' from HR or the hiring manager attempting to assess your skill level and direct experience.
Just be enthusiastic and energetic. Ask pertinent questions to prove that you have 'done your homework' with respect to the job and the company...

I had one once at it sucked because it was not a planned one - so I was really caught off guard and was flustered. WIll you find out ahead of time when it is? Either way, I would say my best advice is not to treat it as a phone call, treat it as an interview. Even though they can't see you, don't walk around the house and do other things the way we do when we're on the phone - sit down and concentrate on what they are saying, and your answers. something that mrswack brings up is if they surprise you - it is not bad to ask to reschedule - that this isn't a good time for you...
mine went well...at least I think so - she mentioned bringing me in - but I haven't heard, but schools move pretty slowly...and the position starts in Spet - so no hurry...at least thats what I am hoping

Yeah seh emailed me to tell me she was going to call me on thursday. I will be at work so i will have to go into a conference room when she calls me.
Couldnt you just see me sitting at my desk with all my co workers around, and me being on the phone getting interviewed by our competition....boy that would be great.

Good luck! I've had a few interviews over the phone. It's kinda hard becaue you can't judge the interviewers facial expressions but it's also less stressful than sitting in a room trying to make small talk.

Ive had them Mine were mostly just like a live verison.
Pros: -You can be at home and feel less intimidated making it easier to feel confident. -You can leave yourself notes to catch your attention if you need to (cue card -singluar- with key words)
Cons: -They can't see you. No first impressions. -You can't see them. No judging of reactions.
Advice -Pick a quiet place. Give it your full attention. Background distractions may come off as you not really caring -Think quickly but fully before answering. 'Uh', 'Umm' and 'Ahs' are more pronouced when it's just a voice.
I closed my eyes and imagined I was actually there. heh
