I just found something else to worry about! What are you doing?

I just found something else to worry about! What are you doing?

I'm sitting here thinking about the little things....like, the cake table, the guestbook table, the placecard table, the little menu cards on the guest tables, etc . . .After seeing so many incredible pictures on the net, I-OH-SO-WANT the little things to be pretty too!

For those of you who are already married, how did you make sure that these things were set up properly? Did your hall help? Did you have a relative/friend help out? Did you have an opportunity to stop by prior to you getting ready?

For the brides to be, do you have a plan?

I amaze myself. I find new stuff to worry about everyday.

I am wondering the same thing. I won't even have the opportunity to enter my reception site until a few hours before the wedding.

Glad to see someone else has the same question.

I'm leaving it up to my Maitr'd.

my maitre'd took care of it all.
My card table had rose petals scattered all over. I didnt want to pay the extra $$$ for an arraingement that was going to go to waste.
In fact I think the petals looked NICER!!!!

Next to the card table was a poem I wrote and framed it, with our pic on the side...with bride/groom bears.

Or cake table, had tea light candles with petals scattered all around the base of the table. It looked nice.

Trust me..I made sure that they did what I asked, and she was AMAZING!!!!!

Ok Diane, so . . .here's comes the 'dumb question of the day'. . .

<<<>>>

Can they charge you more money if you ask for their assistance? (I mean, in addition to the 19% service charge?)

I worried about this too, especially since I'm neurotic and I wasn't sure if my hall would understand what I wanted to do.

But the day of the RD, I drove out and dropped off everything, and gave specific instructions on where I wanted what. The day of the wedding everything was presented perfectly The only thing I didn't like was how my little notecards were laid out for my guestbowl. But me, the neurotic bride rearranged them at the cocktail hr!

As long as you're very clear with the maitre'd, you should be fine.

No, it's better to be specific than vague. That leaves less room for error. JMO

I did a lot of thinking about this stuff too. I found out that in parts of the midwest, brides have their bridal party, but they also have their house party which I think is their family who wants to help out.
I found some 'roles' on wedding channel. They have a title and then a list different things that need to be done. I plan to use these for my FI's aunts because I know they would love to help out. It's similar to the hostess idea.
I trust my hall, but I would rather they worry about their own stuff getting put together right, and have someone who i have been describing my wedding plans to and who cares about what I want, doing my stuff.

usually you box these things up and leave instructions with your banquet manager or maitre'd and they set it ALL up for you... Def go over the details with them...

What most people don't realize is that for all the money you are paying for the hall, it has its perks and advantages.. it's up to you to utilize the most out of the them.. Speak with your hall and go over all the details/.

Pictures and step by step instructions! I felt kind of wierd walking in with a box of stuff (candles, etc) and a typed Word Document supported by illustrations of how I wanted everything! But, hey it worked! My cake table was done EXACTLY as the picture I gave them, along with my cake, the candles on the mantle and in the bathroom. ( I went as far to specify which scented candle I wanted in each bathroom!) Don't be afraid to spell it out for them. It makes your and their life easier...they don't have to worry about doing things incorrectly and you can have peace of mind that you gave them a 'to-do' list.

I love the pictures idea...I already started typing up step by step instructions but I didn't think of pictures...I love that!
