i agree with you both - and i plan on being married before having children for the same reasons that you guys stated so i totally see where you are coming from.....if an accident happened before the wedding, to be totally honest i dont know what i would do b/c i dont want children now and i want to be married first and i want to be financially and mentally ready so that my child has the best life possible.....i just think that being married doesnt mean you are qualified to start having chidren like tilde said....unless of course you are mentally ready - which is absolutely fine! especially if you are older and and have been ready to start a family. i just know that some people think that being married means they are ready to have kids - when its not so much about being married - its about being in love, having a good home, being financially stable, etc. - which sometimes is not the case.

so many people get divorced these days that i really dont think it matters if you are married or not - is it worse for your parents not to be married in the first place or to watch them go through a divorce? either way i am sure it suxs......you can be married and your child could still have a bad father.....i've seen a lot of that too....just because your father lives in the same house doesnt mea he gives a crap about you - which is terrible, but i mean it happens - and i think that rejection must be even worse than if say you never met your dad....but i dont know, i have both my parents so i really cant say anything about it i can only imagine how it must feel - but i've seen friends and ex's who have had bad situations at home.....i didnt want to start a debate or make it heated topic, having a baby is wonderful! and even though i want to wait until we are ready to make that change in our lives i still look foward to it - i just wanted to see what other people thought thats all - b/c some people dont take marriage seriously either - and think that just b/c they are married means its ok to start having kids even though they arent mentally or financially ready....

for FH and I - and ONLY for us, with NO judgements on anyone else. . .we are Catholic and have very traditional ( traditional meaning old fashioned ) moral values and we would never have a child before we were married - for US we believe that is the best situation for a child - to be produced from a loving union, of husband and wife . . . there was never another option for us.

AND with that being said - we are totally waiting a few years so even though I am a January bride, most likely even the December 08 brides will be beating me in THAT department LOL

its so true... i have seen so many people get married and have children and they wre not ready, they think its still time to party or they havent truly worked out being married...

i think it comes down to is that people arent picking the correct person to marry, they dont see all the signs and they get married and have children, then later on they have an awakening and realize they made a mistake with that person.

This is going to be my FBIL because he doesnt see all the signs that this girl is no good for him. BUt i know he will end up marrying her and having children with her and its going to be a disaster!
