i just had a weird idea for favors...

FH and I are both in education, so i was thinking, would it be too tacky to do like a school supply type favor, with maybe pencils, pens, rulers, etc.

i know this is probably really dumb, but it's the first creative thing i've ever come up with... so humor me

I think it's an awesome idea! and something people will actually use!!

You can probably even get a custom post-it note cube!! (with a monogram or picture) You can never have enough post-it notes!!

I think it is a cute idea. My Fh and I are both finishing up dental school right and are planning on giving out small travel bags with toothbrushes (with our names and wedding date on them), toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash in the bag as one of our favors!

I think favors should be fun and something you can use!

OMG how funny I am a hygienist and my boss was teasing me saying you should give out toothbrushes and floss for favors!! Im not doing it. Im keeping my profession separate from my wedding. My FH played semi pro baseball and he doesnt want to do anything with a baseball theme either so monogram it is for us.

I like the pen idea though. Crafts stores sells small tin bins that you could put the pencils, bookmark, pen and ruler if you wanted. then wrap that in clear/decorative cellophane.

You have to be careful with toothbrushes and floss- some may have dentures, can only use certain types of floss and toothbrushes- allthough we give them to every patient it really is a personal preferrence- they make like compact, electric or battery , larger head then MOST importantly- most of the newer toothbrushes dont fit into some of the older tile toothbrush holders. Sorry its just my opinion but I wouldnt like a toothbrush and floss as a favor even if it additional to something else.

Idea that would be great for your OOT gift baskets- the floss mouthwash etc. but not as a wedding favor.

i think that idea is sooo cute... and much more personalized since it is something Both you and your FH are into! i love the creative favors!

I like 'personalized' favors like the pens for the teachers and the toothbrushes for the dentists!!! All favors are going to have a few critics... Aka Jordan Almonds- I like them but none of my co-workers do. So why not be fun and original, I wish I could.

I think its a great idea!!!! Because its perfectly appropriate for you! If you are really uneasy about it, get the pens or something and MAYBE a little something else to please the traditional ones in the family.

My friend is a school teacher and she incorporated school-themed stuff into her wedding

1. Box of Chalk Placecards. The place card was actually hot glued to the box of chalk.

2. Mini-Chalboards: She got mini-chalkboards - maybe sized 8x10 (that's a guess) and had them on the table (maybe 2 per table) and all the guests could write special messages to the bride & groom. We played Tick Tack Toe and we wrote funny stuff - it was a lot of fun during some of the 'required seated' times of the wedding

3. Favor: A Children's Book. 'Where do Kisses Come From?

4 And last but most extraordinary: A YELLOW SCHOOL BUS instead of a limo!! UH-HUH, that's right. 22 adults in tuxedo's and gowns and loads of beer road in a yellow school bus with green vinyl seats all day!
