You all know I have been contemplating Fri or Sun, given I could not afford Oheka on a Sat and given I am still considering having my reception there. Well this weekend I went out with a friend of mine who turned around to me and said she never heard of anyone getting married on a Fri or Sun. She said how could you not get married on a Sat, afterall she is attending a wedding in Fla and even they are having it on a Sat. She also said she wouldn't be able to be prepared for a Fri wed given she needs to spend the entire day getting ready - salon, make-up.
Then my cousin says to me why aren't you having it at Russo's in Queens. Queens is a lot easier for ppl to attend given the church is in Bklyn and a lot of ppl are old and can't drive. She suggested maybe I could rent a bus to transport everyone. And she commented that she would never do a Fri wedding. ARRGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't listen to ANYONE!!!!!!!!! I am having a Friday night wedding and if anyone cares to open their mouths they can fork over some extra cash my way to pay for a Saturday evening

I was married on Sunday as well...I got a few...why not Sat...but we chose the day for other reasons...
just a thought..for Oheka...you get the place for 24 hours right? which would be better to have...all day friday to sat noon...or all day sunday to mon? (I don't think they would kick you out as quickly on a monday...just a thought)

People can be SOOO RUDE with their comments about your wedding! Believe me, I get my share too (and I'm getting married on a Saturday - it's just always something!) You did the right thing though - just laugh it off (and then punch a pillow or something ) When it comes to weddings everyone feels entitled to put in their two cents - let them throw their own 20 or 30 or 40 THOUSAND dollar party if they want to do it their way! Otherwise they should just be thankful for an invite!

Keep laughing..I think we all have to do a lot of it in order to deal with everyone and everything in the madness of wedding planning! What your cousin is saying is ridiculous - of course people get married on Fridays and Sundays - I'm having a Sunday wedding and so are many, many other people! You should get married when and where you want. As far as concern for the elderly guests, I can see your cousins point - but maybe there are other family members who can drive them from one location to another - there's always a solution. Just take a deep breath and keep planning

Both of our families, mostly mine, were EXACTLY like this in the beginning! They couldn't understand why I'm not having it close to my family, even though I've lived here with FH for two years and have NO time to be running home to plan a wedding, and we're paying for it. Not to mention the weddings up there often ****...see my previous posts on weddings in other areas. They also gave me hell about just about EVERY decision I made before it was made.
I ended up having a heart-to-heart w/my mom about why she could NOT do that to me and if she did I'd cut her out of the plans and not discuss them with her.
Anyway, the point is, once the decisions were made, they got over it quick. Now they are just really really excited to come and experience an amazing wedding.
Don't worry, just make the decisions that work best for you...once the decisions are made they will drop it b/c they can no longer influence you. And, if anyone remains negative...just stop talking to them about it.

im getting married on a wednesday in december. too bad if your friend needs to have the whole day to get ready what about the brides needs it is your day after all. how selfish. have it on friday or sunday just to spite her.

Laugh it off and do what your little heart desires! Too bad if they can't make it and too bad if they think its an inconvenience! You can't spend your time trying to please everyone and frankly that's never going to happen! People are just so rude sometime. Like I've said earlier- The people that you really want to be there, WILL be there. Rain or shine, Friday or Sunday!

Some people have no concept of money! My wedding is on a FRiday & lucky for me(or maybe I should say them) no one has questioned me about it.

It's YOUR day...not anyone elses!!! Do what you want to do. Almost all of the weddings I've attended lately are on a Friday. My wedding is on a Friday. Not one person has told me that they can't make it to my wedding because it's on a Friday. I think people like the excuse to take the day off and they have more time to recover.

My wedding is on a Friday and if someone complains about it I will tell them to go you know where! My eparty was on Good Friday and I kept hearing from my mother about it. The woman had no choice but to get over it since she isn't even a practicing Catholic!
This is my response to people who have nothing but stupid ignorant things to say about my wedding: Are you helping FH and I pay for it? No, well then keep your comments to yourself!

I hear it all the time, people b********ing to me about how can I ask people to take off from work on a friday... etc.
People take off work for less important things than a friggin wedding, thank you very much!
I let it roll off my back - It's your day, and if you have to have a Fri @ Oheka, b/c that's what you can do.... THEN DO IT!
