I just want to say....

I think it is ridiculous when catering halls demand you use one of their vendors. I've read a lot of posts where girls have 2 choices of, say flowers, to chose from and they really don't want either or want to make sure they are getting a good deal! Whatever happened to freedom of choice? Preferred vendors are one thing but mandatory is just rude! Just had to vent on behalf of all you out there!

I wouldn't like that either but from what I've seen its westchester halls that do this, most of them seem to have this policy. The other thing ive noticed is that they'll give them the choice of 2 flower vendors and they will both be expensive florists, above average

I thought in Nassau and Suffolk this was against the law?

that's crazy -- and you know they must be getting a great kickback

That is truly horrible! How dare them make you use one of their vendors.

You know something - I heard the same thing once....do you happen to remember where you read/heard that?

that's not right. you should be able to pick any vendors.

My thoughts exactly. That is sooooo wrong. We are paying them enough money as it is and on top of that we have to use who they say.

that would def. pisss me off....i wouldn't go with an rh that made me use their vendors.

Seriously...it is pretty stupid....but didn't you have to use a specific florist at your RH???

The Royalton does - they claim for 'insurance purposes' - but all reputable florists carry a lot of insurance!

Re: I just want to say....

I agree, I went to a RH that required you use their vendors and that was a deal breaker for me. Obviously the vendors are going to charge you whatever they want cause if you want something at your wedding your gonna have to get it through them

Re: I just want to say....

MY RH is in westchester and doesnt require me to use any vendors but your right, most do require you to use their vendors
