I just won something on ebay but I found what I was looking for while shopping today!!

Do you girls think the seller would give it to the next highest bidder under me if I pay the difference in the bids!! I don't mind paying for it if I have to It was only $30 but it will go to waste and their was only one other bidder so I would assume they really want it.

I would ask them. Offer to do that and if they cant or wont, I'd pay for it. If someone emailed me with that offer, I'd try to see if I could do it as long as they were going to follow through on the deal if it didnt work out.

You can try. Just make sure to maintain good communication with the seller and follow through with the transaction if they ask you to. If someone asked me to make an offer to the next highest bidder I'd have no problem with it, as long as they paid the difference.

You can also relist the item or maybe contact the next highest bidder yourself. I know you are not supposed to do that but I got contacted from other sellers frequently.

I agree. I didn't know you weren't supposed to. I once outbid a group by $1 and then decided I didnt want it. I emailed the next higher bidder and told them my max bid and said I wasn't bidding anymore and they could have it. I don't see why you can't contact another buyer and say 'hey I bought this... but I don't want it, you can either buy it from me for your last bid or I can re-list it, im giving you first dibs'. You see their bids now on the completed item so it shouldn't be too hard to say the X value. Just remember to include shipping.

Otherwise, re-list it. I have.

I guess because if we contact each other directly ebay doesn't make any money on the transaction.

With my limited Ebay experience, I have been contacted by other sellers for items I was outbid on and I have contacted sellers to see if they have more of what I was looking for. Then half of the items I bought comes with a web address in case I want to make future purchases from them directly. I think a lot of vendors use ebay to make contacts. It's a reasonabley safe way to build a customer base for both parties.
