I just did this last week for a wedding I was going to. I went to Beach Bum Tanning in E. Meadow (next to chelsea st.). They have the Mystic Tan. It cost $25 but I got a special buy one get one free deal so I can go back again another time. They said it lasts about a week. It came out pretty well. There were a few little spots that were uneven, but probably because I didn't wipe the spray off evenly. Probably no one else would notice though. It looks pretty natural, not orange or anything. My only complaint is that self tanner smell. I could still smell it after about 3 or 4 showers, and yes I used soap!

I saw this on Regis and Kelly -- it looked really cool. The fading streaky thing is kind of scary though -- I'll wait to hear how your experiences are.

Getting married July 6 and trying it out June 10. If it works, will probably go once more closer to the wedding.

Am very curious, though, about this streaky business...any verdict yet from those of you who recently tried this out??

I got it done last saturday and it has faded, but it doesn't look streaky at all.

susanc - i have very pale skin and it was fine.

If I was going to do it for my wedding, I would go 2 or 3 days before. Don't go the day before, it takes up to 24 hours for the full effect. Also, you can't shower for at least 4 hours after. That might not be good if you had a rehearsal dinner or something. The spray has a bronze tint to it, so when you come out you look tan already, but your skin actually takes time to change color. The bronze tint can come off on your clothes, but supposedly doesn't stain.

I am curious about this too, is it worth the money? I mean, do you actually look tan? I know UV booths are SO bad for you, but those give you some decent color

i just came back from trying mystic tan...for the first time ! Looks good so far with the tint...lets see in 24hrs what my skin looks like, I will keep you posted!

Hey Susan, how did it turn out? Ann (Anniegrl) and I tried it last night in DC...a VERY freaky experience! I had trouble getting myself to push that green button once in the 'shower'! But it ended up looking pretty good. Only weird thing I noticed is that my hands appear to have gotten more color than the rest of me. But it's not that noticeable, I don't think. Will keep you updated over the next few days.

Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me where there is a Mystic Tan place in Suffolk, preferably near Commack, Dix Hills, Smithtown, or Hauppauge? If this works out, I may try to go again a few days before the wedding, but I wouldn't know where to go on the Island...

Alison, my fingers got a tiny bit tanner than the rest of me but I guess next time I just need to use a little more barrier cream. My skin still smells chemically too. Otherwise, I love the way it looks. Very even and natural. I'm just crossing my fingers that when it fades it doesn't fade all streaky. We'll see.....

Ok....I went twice last week and here are my reviews:

Yes, it smells....bad actually but I found the smell went away after 1 shower....

You do have to be careful when wiping the spray off after to make sure you're not darker in some area's and streaky in other....but if your careful, it looks great.

After just one visit, I got a TON of compliments on how nice I looked....the color was really natural.

Overall rating: B+

I would have given it an A, but I find it less convenient than regualr tanning and you have more room for error.....

BE careful of the area around your arm pits and the undersides of your arms....your feet and your neck.

Edited to add: I found that it faded very evenly....
