but um things are coming off my friggen registry! and like 5 people have asked where im registered., and yes they are attending the wedding reception.

Is it terrible if people buy you gifts instead of give you cash?? I know we all want cash as gifts, but some people just like to give an actual gift ....

are they from BBB? because then you can return them for cash!!! or take everything off your registry that you didn't get and tell everyone you got everything

Yeah, some people might still give a gift, I think my sister got a couple when she got married. They could also be asking for someone else who couldn't make it.

Yeah, some people might still give a gift, I think my sister got a couple when she got married. They could also be asking for someone else who couldn't make it.
Some people might give a small gift AND cash ... best of both worlds, right?

that's what i would say. It's a NY thing to give cash; apparently not usually done in other states.

I left all the crystal and high end items on my registry though.
Someone bought us all 12 of the plates we wanted as dessert plates off our macys registry. It had to be one of my family members.

no gifts! Don't people know we are poor after this. My friend lives in the South and its mainly a East Coast thing to give money. Honestly, if I get gifts I will prob return them for cash. I think BBB does that.

That is a good approach. I think the majority of people have NO CLUE about wedding costs today. Cash always makes the best gift, however some people find it impersonal and not traditional.

ohhh this is funny. My neighbor chased me down at my car with boxes of gifts. We opened them at home and had a real hoot. There is nothing more heart warming than little plates with lady bugs on them. I am so happy to have helped her clean out her guest room with these random momentos. How the thought does count.

Agreed! I hope all of our friends buy of the registry, otherwise we will never get all that stuff! Plus, I really think being as young as we are (24-25), our friends don't have the money to give as significant cash gift as ladies on LI seem to expect, and I certainly don't expect that. Maybe it's b/c FH and I don't live on LI now, but in any case, I know my entire family and most of FH's will give us $$, and that's plenty! I'm looking forward to some registry gifts from our friends!
