I have lost two small diamonds from my ring so far... both times i brought it back to the jewelry store it came from and they replaced it for free!! I dont have it insured yet either...
Two of my diamonds have come loose (luckily they didn't fall out) but each time I brought it backto the jeweler and he said that if god forbid they do fall out, he is responsible for replacing them.

YES. Get it appraised and fax the appraisal to your broker. They should be able to insure it right away.

This is so weird I was just having a conversation this morning with a couple of my coworkers about getting my ring insured. We keep meaning to get my ring insure but just have not done it. He already got it appraised whrn he bought it, but we just have to make the call and also figure out whose insurance it will go under.

I made FH get my ring insured. He called my insurance and told them what he paid for the ring and they insured it from there. I would call who you have renters or homeowners insurance with and ask them about an apprisal. Hope that helped
I am really sorry about you losing a diamond...that stinks
thank you for the input - i really need to get up and get insurance already. i love it - and would be devistated should anything happen to it.

i've lost a diamond before, one of the small ones in my ring. it most certainly *****, but it was a lot cheaper than i thought to have it replaced. good luck! ~lacey

That happened to me. I went back to the jeweler and complained and they replaced it for free. they even shined it up.
