Re: I LOST MY E RING!

Well I put an ad in the lost and found in a Brooklyn newspaper. So everyone please keep your fingers crossed. There may be someone very honest out there! My fiance is still being a real jerk over the situation. I mean I can totally understand how he feels but I try explaining to him how devastated I am. I cant concentrate at work Ive missed school. All I feel like doing is throwing up or just sitting in my bed! Well wish me luck! I wouldnt wish this to happen on anyone this is the worst feeling I have ever felt im my life!

I am sorry to hear about your ring.. I hope you find it, maybe someone will be nice enough and know the sentiment that an engagement ring holds. I do have something to say to your FI though. Ok, it ****s that you lost the ring, it's devastating but he should be happy he lost the ring and not YOU. like you aren't upset too.. I hope he realizes quick, because I am getting upset with him.. Goodluck girl...

Re: I LOST MY E RING!

Here's some additional info - it's worth a try...

Taxi and Limousine Commission
On-duty New York City taxis, or yellow cabs, must take passengers to any destination within the five boroughs, Westchester County, Nassau County and Newark Airport. Unless traffic is tied up or the passenger requests otherwise, the driver is required to take the shortest route. To complain about a cab or cabbie, or find out about lost items, call the Taxi and Limousine Commission. Because there are over 40,000 licensed taxi drivers and over 11,000 licensed taxi cabs, try to have the following information ready: the driver's name and license number and the taxi medallion number. In addition to yellow cabs, for-hire vehicles (FHVs) carry passengers around town. FHVs, commonly used in all five boroughs, serve passengers by prior arrangement and cannot stop for a hailing customer. FHVs come in three styles and price ranges: car services, black cars, and limousines. The NYC diamond decal on the windshield of licensed FHVs distinguishes them from unlicensed gypsy cabs. Write to the Taxi and Limousine Commission at the above address with complaints about FHVs. Your letter should include the license plate number, the name of the dispatch company, the date and time of the incident, and a brief description of the incident. Allegations of overcharging will be addressed immediately, other complaints less rapidly, and incidents that involve the police will take longer.

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm
Taxi and Limousine Commission
40 Rector Street, 5th Floor
(212) NYC-TAXI (692-8294)

Also try this:

Imagine someone forgetting a pet cat in a cab, or a prosthetic hand, or an engagement ring! Add to this cell phones, wallets, passports, bags, clothing and golf clubs. These are just some of the belongings that are turned in to the NYPD every day by any of the 14,000 medallion cabs, according to P.O. Harley Polikoff of the 17th Precinct. He said a woman from New Jersey telephoned about losing her engagement ring, accurately described it, and it was successfully reclaimed. The prosthetic hand was found at the Central Park Precinct. No news on the cat.

How does one retrieve property left in NYC taxis? The Taxi & Limousine Commission (302-8294), open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., has a recorded menu to help passengers if they know the medallion number or the driver's name.

Otherwise, to expedite the recovery of lost items, the Taxi & Limousine Commission and the Police Department have selected eight precincts in the five boroughs where lost property can be vouchered for safekeeping. For Manhattan the locations are the 17th Precinct, located at 167 East 51st Street (826-3211) and the Central Park Precinct at the 86th Street transverse (570-4820). The full telephone message lists the precincts in other boroughs.

Turning In Property
A cabdriver turning in property is given a receipt and the property is listed on a voucher indicating that it is now in police department custody. After the property is listed on an index sheet in the 'property only book' it is sealed in a bag. Wallets are handled in the same way but any money found in them is deposited separately in bank accounts. The lost property is held temporarily in the property office of the precinct.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Evidence Property Control Specialist (EPCS) Frank Monasterio at the 17th Precinct takes small merchandise to the Manhattan property Clerk at One Police Plaza. He takes larger items to Pearson Place in Queens on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All items are catalogued.

Callers who can identify lost items are given the voucher number and told where to go to collect the property. Cell phones are the most commonly lost items. Their owners are asked to give the brand name and serial number. If there is a match, and the item is` marked Manhattan Property Office, the caller is given a voucher number and instructed to go to One Police Plaza. P.O. Robert Dinon of the 17th Precinct says most of the cell phones turned in by taxi drivers are recovered by their owners.

Recently it was estimated that there are between 80-100 calls a tour concerning property left in taxis. Every call, however insignificant, takes time, be it a missing red shoe or a black shawl or a leather jacket.
Captain Kevin Ward, 17th Precinct commanding officer, is in the process of setting up a second line to take the calls for lost and found on voice mail. These calls will be reviewed and returned.

Re: I LOST MY E RING!

i am so sorry to hear about your ring. Like allthe others are saying, its material... a ring can be replaced. I know you are upset and your Fi is upset. Is he wrong for treating you this way, yes but im not going to bash him. He needs to calm down and realize that its a RING... i know he may have worked hard to pay for it and hes mad b/c it wasnt insured yet but at this point he has to get past that.

Maybe you can go to the extremes. Call the news stations/ radio stations. I saw a segment on the news about a lady who accidently thre out her ring and it was taken by the garbage. she was so upset. they went all the way to the place where they dumped the garbage, tracked down the truck and sifted through and they found it. ill never foregt that story. Miracles can happen.

There was also a story in Newsday this past sunday about a woman who lost her diamond ring in the subway station in the midst of rush hour... long story short, someone found it and returned it to the lost and found. I dont want to give your hopes up but there are honest people out there. Dont give up just yet. My thoughts are with you. Keep us posted.

You are in my thoughts.

Have you called the precint for that area? MAYBE somebody found it & turned it in? I think there's like a 3-6 month waiting period before the person who turns it in gets to claim it. Worth a try!

I'm so sorry you lost your ring.

I can not beleive your FH is being such a JERK to you. My FH did not give me the the ring until it was insured. I do think it is a shared responsibilty and since you were both out together it makes no sense that he would blame you. Maybe he is also angry at himself. I hope things get better quickly!

Re: I LOST MY E RING!

I am so sorry. I would definetly check the cab company and bar (if you think you had it there, or lost it in cab)

It's only a ring and while he is mad over it, I am sure your relationship in the end is what matters.

Definitely say a pray to St. Anthony! He helps to find all lost items. Believe me! Did you check you bag or your clothing, maybe it fell in your shirts or jeans. I will say a prayer for you tonight!

Re: I LOST MY E RING!

Did You have a house live with parents or rent cause you should have homeowners insurance or renters insurance meaning it should be covered under that. They wont cover it if the ring was lost but how do they know it wasnt stolen??? As for the whole FI (I know u guys made up) It could have happened anywhere! What if you guys where somewhere and the Stone fell out Whos fault it would be then??? Did you hear anything from anyone yet?
