I'm Back!
Hi Ladies. This week felt like a month- a good thing when on vacation, a bad one when away from LIW!!
We visited Wilmington, North Carolina and basically made the final decision to move down there after the wedding - six weeks later! So, now, in addition to planning a wedding, I will be planning a move to a different area of the country, applying to school, buy a car, and maybe buy a home! (ummm...3 bed, 2 bath sprawling homes with all the fixins for 110K.
! I still can't believe it!)So anyway, I missed you all and I need to get back to wedding planning - I feel so behind...

Are you going south Deb? Or are you already South? I have a terrible memory for these things!
Yes! The prices on everything made us laugh out loud. We went out to a really nice dinner and ate and drank to our hearts content only to receive a bill for 70.00!! We laughed really loudly and alot of people looked over...it was great.
Besides the prices? It was just nice to be around NICE people who are considerate, hold doors, smile at you, say hello, and act like humans. I am a little over this area of the country in that department.

I'm already in Virginia. Northern VA is much like Long Island, but where I am, in the Shanendoah Valley, prices are so inexpensive! I mean, I could buy a brand new townhome for less than 100K When my parents told me they were selling their 3 BR ranch in Smithtown for over 500K I laughed in their faces... until I saw that the itsy bitsy house down the road was going for just under 400K... oy!
Best of luck with your house search and your move!

bunny, congrats on making the choice to get out of here!!! no offense to all of the new yorkers - i am one myself, born and raised - but there's something to be said for buying a gorgeous home for $110k!!!
fh and i are looking at residency programs in north carolina. we'd be psyched to end up there.
good luck with it!

Thank You! I bet there are a ton of great hospitals that would be lucky to have you as a resident! My sister is a first year resident in Westchester, and cannot wawit until it is over - her and her new husband are heading to Montana. She has said she would rather be a big fish in a little pond than the other way around - plus, a doctor can live like a king anywhere but here. Good luck to you as well!

Re: I'm Back!
We are very tempted to move south too. My FH & I always say we were born with the Long Island curse. It's so hard to leave! We went on vacation to the Outer Banks this past summer (that's where we got engaged!) It was so nice. We loved it!It sounds like you are going to be extremely busy!! That's so exciting!

Re: I'm Back!
Welcome back busy girl!! It is so tempting to move out of NY to own a spacious home and not have to wonder where to come up with over half a million for a simple home. Congrats and good luck
