I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
It feels like so long since I have been on this board. All of you Hawaii honeymooners, it was great! We stayed in Oahu for a few days to see Pearl Harbor and spent the rest of the trip at the Hyatt in Maui. They upgraded our room to a beautiful ocean view. The sunsets were unbelievable. It was a wonderful trip. There is lots to do in Maui. If anyone has any questions, let me know. I am hoping to post a wedding day report soon! We just got home last night.

Wow - glad to hear you had a great time! Can't wait to hear about your wedding day! We'll be in Hawaii in about 3 weeks!
This has been asked before, but what specific clothes did you bring? I'm wondering if I need sneakers for any of the activities? Anything out of the ordinary that you suggest we have?
Thanks

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Teri,You will enjoy Hawaii. The dress was alot more casual than I thought. I would bring a variety of things for night time. I would definetely bring good sneakers. I felt like we did alot of walking at times. I dont know if you were planning the bike ride down the volcano, but if so I would imagine you need the sneakers then. We went into Lahaina a few nights to eat. It is a little town about five minutes from Kaanapali. Enjoy the rest of your planning. The last few weeks go by so quickly.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Hey Cindy,Yes we were bumped up. We originally had mountain view, then they gave us partial ocean view, which was fine. I have to say, that Hyatt had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, we are actually thinking of buying the same kind.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Lori,We really enjoyed our stay. Did you do alot there? I heard the Hyatt in Kauia was just as nice. We went to Lahaina alot for dinner and did alot of other things. Did you take the road to Hana? That was a long day. It was a very nice island. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
The Hyatt was nice, but we thought the one on Maui was much better. Kaui was way to quiet for us. We did alot in Maui. Road to Hana, Halayaka(spelling??),Lahana a few times, snorkling. a luau.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Lori,That is why we skipped Kaui because we heard it was quiet. It sounds like you did the same as us in Maui. We didnt do the bicycle ride down Halekala. We just drove up it one day. We did not feel like getting picked up at 2:15am for the bicycle trip. We did a helecopter ride that was amazing. It was alot of fun.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Hey Cindy-Glad your trip and wedding went so well (mine was the same day and I went to Hawaii too!).
I just wanted to comment about Kaui. I went to Kaui, Maui, and Oahu, and I have to say that both my husband and I felt that Kaui is absolutely the most gorgeous and lush island of the three. Yes, it is definitely more subdued and not as much action as Maui, but there is a lot to do if you want to hike, snorkel, and just enjoy nature. It was my favorite of the three, though all were fabulous. I would recommend both Maui and Kaui, though it is tough to really have enough time to thoroughly enjoy both in only two weeks. For brides who like a lot of nightlife, then they'd probably prefer Maui. For someone who wants something a little more quite and less crowded, then Kaui is a good choice (just watch out for the roosters!). I am a very active runner and hiker, so I really enjoyed Kaui. I will say the snorkeling on Maui was exceptional and we even kayaked with dolphins.
For any brides considering Hawaii, I'd recommend spending just a brief time on Oahu and most of your time on the other islands. The strip on Waikiki was almost as busy as New York! North Oahu, however, has some gorgeous scenery! And if you do Pearl Harbor (which I recommend) try to get their early enough to be on the first boat that goes out because you will be the only visitors on the memorial. After the first boat, there are usually two groups of visitors on the memorial at the same time.

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Shellmarie-So glad you enjoyed Hawaii. I agree with you on Oahu. We basically stopped there to go to Pearl Harbor. If I had to do all over again, I probably would of done Kaui and Maui. Oahu was very very busy. Where did you stay in Maui? Oh, arent you glad the weather held out a little on our day. I was glued to the weather stations from the day before and up to the day of. Good luck to you!
