Cindy - what do you recommend on Maui - Places to go, tour, eat, etc. I am going in October. I am staying at the Grand Wailea. Also, besides sneakers and helpful hints on what to pack? When you say casual, how casual is casual? Did you ever need a swater or warmer clothes?
Thanks
Cindy

BridetobeWe stayed at Kaanapali beach which is a little further than where you are staying. We did take a drive to see your hotel. It is so beautiful. We were very impressed with the pool. We only walked through for a few minutes. As far as clothing, I did bring some long sleeve shirts and a few seaters, but never used them. The only thing I used at night in some restaurants was a light jacket because of the fans going. I brought some nice dresses, but felt over dressed at night sometimes. I felt it was casual at my hotel. I dont know about your hotel though. I would bring pants at night to wear and some dresses. We dined in Lahaina quite often which was five minutes from the hyatt. A little bit away from where you will be. In Lahaina I do recommend David Paul's Grill, I'Os, and there is a Roys by you I believe and we dined at the one by me. We did a helicopter tour which I would definteley do. We took the road to Hana and there are scenic spots to stop along the way. I dont know if you plan on biking down the volcano, I heard it is beautiful with sunset, but they pick you up at 2 in the morning and we dreaded getting up that early for that. We ended up driving up it one day, but it was too cloudy to see anything. If you have any other questions, let me know. Are you stopping at any other islands?

Hey Cindy-I was torturing myself with the Weather Channel, too. We were very lucky the rain stayed away! I feel for those Labor day weekend brides!
We stayed in Waimea at the Renaissance. It was a little away from the action of Lahaina, but it was very relaxing, with good snorkeling and not too crowded beaches. We liked Lahaina a lot. It was so cute and lots of good restaurants.
The only thing I'm sorry we didn't have time to do was go see the lava on the Big Island. But that gives us a reason to go back!

Re: I'm back from Hawaii and it was great!!
Thanks for the info Cindy. I was planning on packing mostly causal/cute skirts and capris for the evening..so it sounds like I should be ok for the most part. I will bring a couple sweaters for the restaurants. FI doesn't need a sports jacket, does he?I am starting in Maui for 7 days - Grand Wailea and then on to Kauai - Hyatt for 3 days. Not going to Oahu. I went when I was in HS and it reminded me of Florida (although in HS you have a different mind set when travelling). I also did the Pearl Harbor thing. FI wanted to at first but he changed his mind. Now, from what I am hearing there are some very pretty parts of Oahu that aren't like the area I stayed in years ago.
