A couple of questions

Welcome back. I see that you went to Hawaii - we are going to Maui and Kauai in June. I can't wait!! Where did you stay and how was everything? Also, we are using Pedestals- were you satisfied, especially with the centerpieces? The centerpieces are my main concern.

A couple of questions - long

We stayed at the Hyatts on both Islands. We went to the Hyatt on Kauai first and where really happy. We had booked a garden room and got upgraded to an ocean view. We really enjoyed Kauai. We were up every morning at 6:30am doing different trips. We were a little disappointed with the Hyatt in Maui. It is a very nice hotel but the one in Kauai is a bit nicer, which everyone warned me about. We decided to stay in Kaanapali so we could have some night life in Lahaina which is very close. Honestly, we were so tired at night that we barely were able to stay up past 11:00. If I would have realized that earlier I would have booked a hotel in Wailea. It just has a nicer feel than Kaanapali. However, Kaanapali is very nice and we did go to Lahaina a few nights by taxi or shuttle which allowed us to drink without worrying about driving. I would definitely recommend Coconuts on Kauai and Nick's Fishmarket on Maui. Both are good restaurants. If you want to do any activities I would make reservations before you left for your honeymoon. There were a few activities that we didn't do because we couldn't book them in time. Definitely get the books Maui Revealed and the Kauai book by the same authors. We used them tremendously. Pedestals was great. My flowers were wonderful. My centerpieces were about 30-36 black magic roses that were very low and tight. I worked with Danny.

Thank you so much Karen

We are also staying at the Hyatt in Kauai - everyone I have spoken to has loved it. We are staying at a hotel in Wailea on Maui. I was concerned about being far away from Lahaina, but the pictures of Wailea looked so beautiful, I just had to stay there. Did you go to the Old Lahaina luau? We are working with Danny at Pedestals also, I am glad that you were satisfied with them.

A couple of questions - long

I am planning on going to Hawaii for my honeymoon and I am torn between staying at the Hyatt or Sheraton in Maui? I heard that the Sheraton has one of the best spots on the beach - do you know if thats true? Did you go over to the Sheraton at all or know anything about it? Deciding on which hotel to stay in is driving me crazy since everyone has all different opinions and experiences with hotels. Also, did you need anything else besides your drivers liscense or 1 form of ID when you travelled there? Thanks so much for your input!

Question about Wailea

I'm an happy you had a wonderful honeymoon. Congratulations! We have booked our honeymoon for two weeks at The Grand Wailea in Maui. Did you see the hotel and the beach and were they nice? We are hoping the beach is calm and quiet. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at the Grand Wailea on our honeymoon last May - let's just say you won't be disappointed. The Wailea area is beautiful and laid back. The beach by the hotel is quiet enough, but if you head up the road past the golf courses you will find really private and quiet beaches -- I'm jealous!

Question re Dress

Hi Karin, Welcome Back and Congadulations! From your post, I understand you used Karin to make you dress. I have a few questions. How far in advance did you meet with her? How long did it take her to make the dress? How is the price compared to buying a dress? Thanks!

Sirev

I posted a message on the aol travel message board and two people responded saying that they thought the sheraton was better. I really cant decide. I loved the Hyatt in Aruba that is why I keep leaning towards Hyatt, but people tend to favor Sheraton over Hyatt in Maui. I will keep you posted on any more info.

I`m back from my honeymoon - Answers to most questions

If anyone wants to see any pictures send me an email at [email protected] and I will send them to you. The pictures would show my flowers, makeup, hair and dress. However, the flowers in the pictures look bright red but they were black magic and my centerpieces look just like my bouquet but bigger. I did go by the Sheraton. The beach by the Sheraton is better than the Hyatt's beach. The Sheraton is a little further from Lahaina but not much. It is closer to Whaler's Village and Black Rock (good snorkeling). We had a drink at their pool bar. For those reasons I would stay at the Sheraton. However, if you get a better price with the Hyatt both hotels are very close. In Wailea we saw the lobbies and pools of Grand Wailea, Four Seasons and Kea Lani. All were great. The Grand Wailea seemed to have a lot going on in a good way. We probably would have chosen the Kea Lani just because they are suites but all looked great. Karin did my make my dress. I probably met with her a little less than a year before my wedding. However, I don't think we got started until 6 months before with most of the work. I didn't receive my proofs back from Fine Art yet. I just got back from Hawaii this morning. Chuck was great though. Really personable. By the way we flew First Class both ways which if you can swing it financially really made the trip much smoother. I think that was most of the questions. Let me know if anyone has anymore.
