Re: I'm nervous now...

tammyjill,
I have really tried everything. I've been looking at websites for bridal salons outside of the NY area!

The women at the salon told me it was a new dress, so I wonder if a lot of websites don't even have it up yet.

Come Thursday, my sister will have a few photos to share!

Re: I'm nervous now...

Ok..just got back from my first fitting at Bridal Couture. My dress is in and it is perfect. No problems whatsoever. (I even had a customization made to the original dress and it wad perfect.)

The shop was very crowded and the people that worked there seemed a little overwhelmed but this time no one was rude to me. I even dealt with the manager woman who I don't like and she was nice to me. Two seamstresses worked on my dress trying to perfect the bustle and they were very, very nice.

Only issue I had was the price of alterations. I could have sworn they told me that max alterations were $250. Today they told me it would be $325 (plus tax). It is my fault I did not have them write it on my original receipt. They said that the alteration cap does not include a bustle..bustle is a minimum of $100. So my advice is get the alteration price in writing and what it includes. I argued the price and they went down to $275. All I need done to the dress is have it taken in by the chest and I need a double bustle because of the material of my dress. (No hem, no waist, everything else fit perfectly.) I know I got totally ripped off but I do love my dress!

All and all it was a good experience. My second fitting is October 1st. Can't wait!

Re: I'm nervous now...

jenn- I found your dress. You described it perfectly and it was hanging right next to my dress on the rack. I couldn't find out the mfg though, sorry. the store was really busy and couldn't get anyone to help.

It is very similar in style to my dress so I wouldn't be surprised if they are both Mariana Hardwick. If I have time tomorrow, I will write my contact at the mfg and see if they know. If not maybe we can find out where in our area they sell her dresses.

Being they sell alot of couture dresses, I have a feeling you will have a hard time finding pictures. I couldn't find mine anywhere. I had to get the mfg to send it to me.

How did your sister have pictures? You should be able to use them to go to other bridal shops.

Re: I'm nervous now...

bridetobe,
Thank you for trying!!! I really appreciate it!

I received an email back from Mariana Hardwick and the girl who contacted me, Candy, said as far as she knows they don't have any dresses with a coordinating scarf/shawl. I'm wondering if the gown may be an Amy Kuschel?!

I'm going to have my sister snap a few photos when I go in for my next appointment. I figure if they can remove the labels, which is illegal, I can break their rules and take a few photos (hopefully w/o their knowledge.)

Who knows...I may decide to purchase the gown anyway! (Because I truly do love it!!!)

Do I have to get my alterations done there???

Re: I'm nervous now...

not sure about the alterations...knowing the shop they will give you a hard time but will probably let you.

PS Candy was the person I speak with at Marian Hardwick too.

Re: I'm nervous now...

Jenn- I would post your dress description on any message board you can find. You did a great job of describing it maybe someone will find out the mfg for you. Also, I posted the picture of my dress one time on UW and someone was so wrote me asking the mfg because they were in the same situation as you are!

Re: I'm nervous now...

Finally!!!! I found the gown at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place!!!! Yeah! I still don't know who the manufacturer is, but I set up an appointment for Saturday to try the gown on again! (I'll look at the label then.) She showed me a few other gowns and told me I could get the color I wanted and the coordinating scarf with those gowns as well!!

What a relief!!!!
