I'm not sure if this was posted yet.
Isn't it weird how the supermarket asks you if you found everything you were looking for when you are at the checkout?

And what if you didn't? Do you think they'll hold your spot on line while you run back to get it? Or better yet, maybe they'll get it for you!

Re: I'm not sure if this was posted yet.
my supermarket doesnt ask me that
They do however let me know if I bought something and a bigger version of it is on sale (96 ounce OJ on sale 2.99 and the 64 ounce not on sale regular price 3.49)
and they do hold your spot if you want to run and get the sale item

Re: I'm not sure if this was posted yet.
They do that at the Waldbaum's near me in Oakdale, though I'm not sure what they would do if I told them I hadn't found everything.Years ago I was working with a consultant for a major office supply chain and he posted person at the door to ask exiting customers if they'd found everything they needed. When the answer was no, they were often able to help the person find what they had come in for, to the tune of about $30,000 per store per week - adds up to a lot of sales over time. I guess that's what the grocery stores are aiming for, though they have to be able to get you what you need if you say you didn't find it.

I think my supermarket is run by aliens. I get the old ladies who have conversations with me, the people who tell me if things are on sale, if you cant reach something they help you, and if you break something (which I have numerous times) they smile and say dont worry about it.

Chippa, is that the Stop & Shop in Glendale, by the gas station & Gebhart's restaurant? If so, then Granny is probably one of the old ladies having a conversation with you! She's always getting the guys to check in the back for something that's not on the shelf, or getting rainchecks on sale items out of stock, or having the butcher cut her meat for her - the service is pretty good there.

Omg, I broke a glass jar of Marie's salad dressing a few weeks ago at Waldbaums.I usually put it in the front part of the cart where a child would sit, but the thingee that covers the leg holes was missing and I didn't notice.
When I moved my cart...CRASH! I was mortified!! They were so nice about it.
I slunk out of the produce section and was too embarrassed to go back and get the rest of the stuff I needed.

LOL! OMG...that happened to me tonight! At the time, I couldn't understand what the cashier was asking me. By the 3rd time I was able to get 'Did you find everything you were looking for?'
Edited to say: I was at a Walbaums too.

Re: I'm not sure if this was posted yet.
At my supermarket, which is the only one in my town, you are lucky if they say anything to you, much less ask you if you found everything you are looking for!! The cashiers are all nasty, they don't care how they pack your stuff..if they pack it at all and most of the time you can barely understand what they are saying. Not a pleasant experience at all.

They have been asking me too if I found everything I was looking for...I hate how they pack my bags. I try to get on the longer lines so I have time to put my stuff up before she rings me so I can run down and bag!
