I'm so proud of my Dad!

He's quit smoking in preparation for the birth of my nephew, his first grandchild.

He's been clean for two whole weeks now

I've been trying to get him to quit for years now - this little baby brings so many blessings with him

That is great! It's the best motivation there is to quit. I hope my parents do the same when the time comes.

You know, we've been nice about it (You know, it's really not good for you), we've pleaded (we beg you, please stop), we then got mean (you're not going to live to see your grandchildren) but the thing that eventually got him:

DIL may not let you handle the baby if you've been smoking...

I really feel so bad that we've had to be mean and pull out all these stops, but he just wouldn't give it up! Until now...

Well, I'm happy that worked for your family, but my husband is an only child, so I think that puts the burden on me. . .

An apt in my building burnt down last week from a cigarette left burning & even THAT hasn't guilted him into quitting! ( he only smokes in the garage, outside & in the car.)

I tried doing sopmething similar about six years ago Didnt work for me just made my mom feel guilty. thats is something you have to be careful of too, when you do something like that
