Brooklyn is severely lacking in the hotel department. Do you have many out of town guests? There is the Marriott in downtown Brooklyn which is pretty new but is in a pretty scary neighborhood for out of towners. (Although it can look scary, its actually quite safe).
There is a Comfort Inn in Bay Ridge which I would expect to be cheap but is not at all cheap from what I hear.
There are also a few bed & breakfast type places in Park Slope. I don't know where exactly but Im sure you could find out.

It's true that the parking is tough, but I grew up in that neighborhood and there is nothing to be worried about. I would say shady is a bit exagerated. The beauty of the Basilica is amazing and worth a visit! I think the 12noon mass is in the upper church(where they have the weddings.) The # for the rectory is (718) 492-9200. MacAteer's florist is who I'm using and he's been great! They've been around forever! They're about 5 minutes from the church. I think it's good for your florist to be familiar w/the church(that's just my opinion!)

The comfort inn in bay ridge is $170 per night(that's the wedding price) definately over priced! bklyn is lacking in hotels!!

Sha: During the day, its perfectly fine. And the church is amazing so its worth whatever issues are involved. But at night the neighborhood is definitely scary. The reason I say this is b/c I know someone who owns a storefront right across the street and there have been numerous shootings and hold-ups there after dark. He won't even rent out the apartments above because of all the problems he has had in the area.
Wow! $170 - are they crazy? If your guests don't mind taking the train, you could probably find some similiarily priced hotels in Manhattan.

If I dont get it soon, I may have to ask you to give him a good slapping around (heeee-heee).Luke used to live on 22nd Street near 5th Avenue. He didn't go to high school in the area. I went to Bishop Kearney. What about you?
